Where are new Tacomas made?

Mine was built in the Nummi plant in California

Is that Baja California , Mexico ?

 

Some geography and history...

1) California (today) is a state in the U.S.A.

2) Baja California (Lower California) is a peninsula divided into two states of Mexico: Baja California and Baja California Sur (South Lower California)

3) California was first the name of the peninsula, so named by the Spanish, who originally thought it was an island.

4) As the Spanish expanded the chain of missions north, the area north of the peninsula (all the way to Canada) was called 'Alta California' (Upper California).

5) Soon, the two Californias were identified as 'Baja California' and 'Alta California'.

6) Mexico declaired its independence from Spain in 1810, winning it several years later... but lost California (both parts) during the war with the U.S. In post war negotiations, we returned Baja California to Mexico.

7) Under the U.S. flag, the 'Alta' in Alta California was never used...

8) So, what was originally California became Baja California and what was originally Alta California became California.

Toyota de Baja California is in Mexico, east of Tijuana and just south of the U.S./ California border near San Diego.

 

So is NUMMI California in Mexico ?

Wasn't Toyota's sales pitch on the 2005 Tacoma "Made in America for America"???? I believe they even had flyers in their stores showing how more of the Tacoma was made right here in North America then any other pickup on the market. Now this includes Mexico by the way. Mine was made in Cali by american's making $28 an hour minimum. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

 

NUMMI is in Fremont California.

It is still in Fremont, except now it is sparsely occupied. Toyota struck a deal with Tesla so some of their vehicles are made in NUMMI now, but they take up a fraction of the whole factory.

My Taco speaks Spanish, and thankfully she's given me no problems (knock on wood)!

As much as people want to talk trash about our southern partners, they have proven themselves as highly qualified North American technicians over the years. Where do you think all our airlines out source their aircraft over hauls. Once you look past their drug corruption mexico is really up and coming! The better mexico's economy gets the better ours gets. Its really a win win situation!

 

But did they say south or north America?

 

They said north america... to my knowlege only Hilux's are made in south america...

 

Mexico is in North America, as are the Central American countries (incl. Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama)... just fyi.

My Tacoma was built 12/2010 in Baja California.

 

That's because guys there have small genitals.

BTW..For the geography students out there, Baja California is not California,USA. Baja California is in Mexico.
