Where are people rerouting the intake pipe to throttle body hose?

On the last leg of the intake pipe there is a hard 90 elbow nipple that then runs via a rubber hose to the bottom of the throttle body

Some people have done custom intakes getting rid of all the resonator stuff, I want to do that too. If you don't cut and reuse the last hard pipe with the nipple I mentioned above, you would have to re route that line I mentioned, where/how are people doing that?

Pretty sure that’s the bypass hose to the IAC and needs to remain. I don’t know about the hard pipe or why anyone would want to do it. Have read here about resonator delete somewhere and seem to recall it doesn’t improve performance. Maybe search it here and read up. Good luck.

    Hello -

Are you by chance referring to this hose circled in red below?

Yes as stated earlier.....that tube(elbow) off the main tube supplies filtered air to the IAC mounted to the bottom of the TP

allows idle while TB valve is closed

If you replace the oem intake system......you'll have to have a place for MAF to mount........air supply nip for the charcoal canister......and a nip for iac feed line

speeding $200 plus will give you a whole 1/3 of 1 hp extra....if your lucky

but it will sound cool......and allow that side of the heads to run much cooler by opening that up.....

    enough to prevent overheating......not really...
that really depends on changing fluids regularly
    and cleaning egr every 100K

Yeah, I'm wondering where people have bypassed the IAC connection to?

    K & N puts in front I guess

mine has it where its supposed to be

    Kinda like this one.....

    s-l1600 (3).jpg

    Volant.jpg

most aftermarket intake tubes worth a crap will have that outlet on back side and usually a smaller one on the front side for the evap sys to get fresh air

cold air system for just basic metal tube and filter start about $150+

Plug and play ones made for tacoma with air box or at least a shroud run in the $300~$400 range

unless you have a specific goal in mind .....like making the header run cooler......thats a lot moola to spend

I'm not buying a cold air intake, I'm using a $25 intake pipe to my stock airbox as seen in the 2nd pic in the original post. But the guy in that pic obviously rerouted that IAC hose somewhere, I am asking if anyone knows where?

yep......no iac feed.....idle would be very tough

unless TB is worn and doesnt close all the way

so yes...you have to buy parts made to fit the truck

it would be like having a sod house.......not anything like a real one

you could punch your own hole....put a grommet in there and an elbow tube
no big deal......it just has to be anywhere between the MAF sensor and TB

but if you introduce any air leaks/vac leaks.......it will run/idle bad

you're introducing more points of wear/failure

I would (did) buy the one that's actually made for 96-40 tacomas

Cheapest way out would be sell the truck and get a skate board or
    a bicycle

these then tend to be so expensive because they get rid of the rubber connectors

and switch to life-time silicone ones for once and done....

no more stretching out or cracking out

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Any nipple will work fine just make the new Hose long enough not to kink.

I have been doing that for years with no problems.

Dude I understand the IAC needs a hose, I was looking for input on where to route it if I deleted the nipple on the intake tube

Any Vacuum Source upstream of the MAF sensor before the throttle body!

Anywhere on that tube...between maf and the throttle body inlet
.....there's no secret passages........it has to be somewhere on 'THE TUBE'

it has to be filtered air......and metered air

    not much wiggle room here.......

make sure what ever you do it doesn't leak

and make sure you don't kink your iac hose....
with the all wiring....water hoses......pcv line...there's a lot going on under the TB

this would be a good place to use 16mm silicone tubing

I actually made my iac line go long and backwards and drop down along the fire wall to avoid all the wires/coolant tubing/pcv line....
    .....come in iac from below.....

I can do this because my iac feed is a grommeted elbow on the back on my plastic intake tube...that is able to swing left or right
    ......no secret passages...

    CIMG4807.jpg

pretty simple.....as long as its air tight

1/2" would be pushing it......I'd try to get 5/8"ish line

if not comfortable with grommet......you could metal nipple and bolt it in/seal it

Most just pull the resonator and water catch off and plug those and continue using the oem intake tube
    thats always an option...

If you cant handle something as simple as this......boy are you in for a ride.....

I'm not sure what you've been trying to get at this whole time, but it's not exactly helpful. In that 2nd image in the OP that guy doesn't have a visible IAC hose coming off his pipe, so I was wondering if someone had an idea how he did that, since I can't ask him. I've had to hack up my intake to fit it around my long travel shocks and hoops. I want to clean it up and that is going to involve some custom intake piping, I figured I'd replicate that dude if I could.

I can handle something as simple as this, just like you can handle something as simple as swapping black hoses for blue ones
