I was reading an old article on the Baja series and it said for starting 2012 that Tacomas would be built in San Antonio. Is this true?

So I can tell the dealer they are full of it when they talk about catching one before it hits the port. Honestly the term port may just be a holdover.

If I recall correctly the 'port' is where they add on such things as the "sealant package" and special editions like the Texas Edition and TSS Edition. The name 'port' gives you the impression that it comes in on a boat. Well, they used to come into the port in Houston, but most now come into the processing facility in northern Houston by freight.

Technically he's not loading you up

The Baja's are made here in San Antonio. Any package specific add-on's are done at TLS (which is right next to the factory)...There are 2 methods of transportation: Rail and carrier truck. xJuice is right, the freight ends up in Houston where the main distribution hub is....perhaps that's what they call the port....
