Necessary? If you want to ensure minimal leaks. If your not going for a competition sound system, do t sweat it. But, silicone is cheap and easy to use.

I put mine under drivers seat. I just used screws, can't remember the length but it isn't going anywhere. Make sure to fit it to where wires won't be sticking out, had to
I have built a few boxes. Use weatherstrip+caulk on the seams to get the best seal(cheap and easy way). It does indeed matter if you want the most out of your sub. However even a 500w sub without a box will fill up a Taco cab with sound so don't stress too much about it

Will be tuning gain tomorrow with a multimeter. The amp has a switch, I can run it at 12.3v or 14.4v. I'm going to run it at 14.4v, which it says it's rated for 2 ohms: 700 watts x 1 chan. A youtube video said the formula for target voltage is the square root of watts multiplied by ohms. Am I using the watts combined from the subwoofers (600w) or the 700w of the amp? Target voltage when using amp watts would be 37.42, and 34.64 when using the sub's combined wattage.

Kind of pissed one of the 10 screws on one of my subs just keeps spinning, I forced toothpicks into the hole to give it something to grab on to (an old construction trick my dad taught me). The screw grabs and sucks the sub down, but maybe an 8th-16th of an inch less than the others. Hoping it's sealed, theres foam gasket on the mounting surface as well. I'm not going for comp sound, I just don't want one of my subs to sound like it isn't working properly

Hooked everything up today. The amp power button lights up but I'm not getting anything from the subwoofers. I hooked up multiple speakers to the amp and got nothing. I am able to get multimeter readings from the amp. I'm starting to think I was sold a faulty amp by a member of this site.

Is it possible to check and make sure that an amplifier is functioning by using a digital multimeter? (not-autoranging)

Did I wire my subs correctly? Subs are wired in parallel down to 2ohm

Very cool, I will go scope your thread

Forget the speakers, just use the wire fittings to test with the meter for now. You should get something if the amp is functioning.

Paid an audio shop today to look at it and they said the issue with the amp is that the gain potentiometer (knob) is shot, either the owner bumped it or turned it too far and damaged it.
