My throttle cable (cable-actuated throttle?) is at its end of adjustability. I have searched on Rock Auto and a few other Toyota Parts sites. Is it possible to buy just this cable? Seems pretty easy to swap in a new one.

Pictures below so you know exactly which cable I'm talking about (and you can see there's no more threads to adjust!)0514192109.jpg 0514192110.jpg .

    Appreciate the help!!

Seems the Toyota Parts Deal website listed it as accelerator control...

I found two different Toyota parts sites with two different names...though it seems the common one is accelerator control. $80 is a bit pricey, and I am out of options to adjust. The truck eats my money! :spending:

    Something is wrong !!

    Wrong cable??

Are you sure the firewall is not broken ??

Allowing you to get that much slack in the cable.

I have never seen a cable stretch that much .

Unless I got the wrong cable, the one in the picture is the one I'm after. It doesn't go through the firewall, but into the housing with another plastic spring cam that tensions the cable on this side. Not sure what that unit is either. Did I confuse the two cables coming onto the throttle body??

The one I am pointing to, which goes from the passenger side of the engine bay to the front of the throttle body, is the one I need to replace!

Problem solving...FYI, for those that are looking to replace exactly what I'm trying to refer to in my pictures of my motor (see above threads), then you are looking for Toyota Part # 78150-35030. Simply just called a cable. The website says it doesn't fit my 2001 Manual Trans, etc. and I spoke with the parts dept, and the guy on the phone confirmed it'll fit...though I do wonder if that is true...?

Here is what the diagram picture looks like:

That would make more sense...does it seem like the diagram picture is correct? The description on the Conicelli Toyota site describes it as being for a 4 cylinder....

    Here is a context photo...resource2.jpg

Would make sense that it is for the cruise control...what the diagram above shows does match what I see in my engine bay. I think that I'm going to need to replace both this cruise control one and the one I accidentally ordered anyways!

So, to be clear for the record:

Part # 78150-35030 cruise control cable (also called accelerator, auto drive)
Part # 78180-04080 pedal travel sensor (also called cable assembly, accelerator control)

BOTH of these parts attach to the front of the throttle body, 35030 coming in from the passenger side plastic box (seen above in the diagram) and 04080 coming in from across the front of the intake manifold from the rear of the engine bay, through the firewall.

Confirm if this will fit (may be a difference between 4 cylinder & 6). Hope this is helpful for future reference.

OK, just got off the phone with the parts guy at Conicelli again...turns out the part # I listed above is for a 4 cylinder. When he plugs in my VIN it shows that the cruise control cable (the one I've been trying to find) is discontinued. The part # for that is 83731-35241.

I may just get the one listed for 4 cylinder and see if it fits. If not, I can send it back he says.

So odd why Toyota would discontinue making these cables.

    A couple things:
    1) Is there any adjustment that can be made one the cruise control module side of the cable? If so, this would provide additional adjustment on the throttle body side of the cable.
    2) The cruise control module you have is stand alone from the throttle cable attached to the accelerator pedal in the cab. From my experience, all the 4 cylinder tacomas that have cruise control have the accelerator cable running to the cruise control module and then another cable running to the throttle body. The cable you have from the cruise control module and the ones I've seen on the 4 cylinders from the cruise control module are completely different
