I borrowed my brother's V8 Chevy the other day and man do I like the power. I would love to squeeze more juice out of my Tacoma. It's a 2014 V6 4X4. I've looked on the net and I can't seem to find any superchargers for my truck. Any suggestions? I know Toyota discontinued the TRD supercharger in 2015...

Is 6psi "safe" so to speak. Whats the limiting factor on these trucks? Rods, pistons, drive shaft, trans?

Really, guy asked about buying a discontinued super charger, you tell him be happy why? Because, you think, because you're ok with your stock truck, everyone else should be.

That's what I expected. Internet tough guy. Just keep thinking your cool.

Ask in one of the supercharger threads, OP, lots of people think the TRD supercharger is only so so in producing more power. Need to run premium gas, and get computer re-flashed, and IIRC, the flash can't be undone if you want to remove said supercharger for re-sale. It won't give you v-8 power.

I liked this little exchange. Well played chaps!

I will say that the supercharger is nice, and I am very happy I have it and at WOT I can smoke lots of vehicles, even on 33s. However, it is not $6k kind of nice... Real talk.

Any input on the computer re-flash? I think 6K installed is fare, how long ago did you have the install done, before the TRD version got discontinued? I've heard of prices in the 7 grand area for just the supercharger, and are fit kits still available?

For the price of the SC parts and the somewhat underwhelming results (for the $ spent) you can pick up an early Miata with a turbo package to use as a pavement toy.

Simpler, cheaper, faster, convertible, easy to resell when you are ready to move on.

    Just another option to consider.

Are you talking to me? I can't tell for sure...

The reflash is just fine. Makes the fuel trims rich as a pig even with a smaller pulley, but she runs just fine. No complaints. Would be better with a standalone engine management unit, but the small gains aren't worth it for my application.

$6k installed is not too bad, and I guess I didn't assume that was the case. I installed mine in the garage May of 2013 over a couple of days and bought the entire kit online for $3800 shipped + $100 for the reflash at the dealer. Chances are that you won't find a TRD kit at this stage in the game. If you were to decide you want one and stumble across something, make sure you can source BOTH the fit kit and the blower before buying either...

I am kind of in this camp now. Sure, my truck is fast, but I realized that I was trying to put lipstick on a pig. I bought an 02 vette for cheap and it makes my truck feel like nothing at all. If you have the means I would recommend entertaining this route. Given infinite funds I would boost my truck again though :spy:

Thanks Colton. Good on you for installing the SC yourself, excellent. $100 for re-flash isn't bad either, good deal all the way around.
