I put the same speakers in the rear but the 6x9 versions in the front 2 weeks or so ago. The bass is nice at lower volumes but the factory head unit doesn't have enough power to push bass at higher volumes. I will be running an amp to power the front to get more punch soon.

I haven't yet. It just happened yesterday. A couple of fine souls here offered to send me some extras they have so I guess I'll go that rout.

You lose these if you leave them in the door. When you push your trim piece back in place the tabs push them into the door and they don't necessarily fall to the bottom of the door. I learned the hard way! Five of mine went into "clip heaven".
You should carefully remove them from the door and place them back on the trim piece before reinstalling the trim piece. I just ordered a pack of 30 from Amazon (Rexka Door Garnish Moulding Retainer Clip) for $10.99 plus tax. Read in another post the dealer charges $.90 a piece for them and I'm 40 miles from the dealership. I can wait an extra day (Prime) instead of driving to the dealership today.

I ordered the same ones you have from Crutchfield (salesperson recommendation) but after they arrived I had second thoughts about using them. Called another salesperson at Crutchfield (super nice lady named Mandy) and she advised me to return them (waived the return fee) and suggested I go with the Kicker 43DSC69305 (6x9) in the front) and the Kicker 43DSC6704 in the rear. She said these are more efficient than the 674's and need less power. I have the Subaru (Kicker) tweeters also. Couldn't be happier with the sound. I don't think the JBL system could sound any better.

Wish I had went that rout .Especially the 6X9's. But oh well, the ones I have ate loud enough and super crisp sound I'll add a powered Subwoofer (underseat) and call it quits, All I need is just a tad more bass.

Ok, so if you're reading this thread you're probably like the rest of us and just lost some clips down into your door and are wondering what to do next.

Well - all hope is not lost. I had this happen today when installing my new Kicker door speakers too. But I managed to get the clips back out. Here's how:

    1. Carefully peel back and remove the 3 circular stickers to reveal the 10mm nuts for the mirror. I just placed these elsewhere on the door (softly) to reuse.
    2. Unhook the mirror cable and remove the 3 nuts. Remove the mirror.
    3. Now you have 3 open holes on both sides where the mirror attaches and a hole in the middle where the wire ran. The clips will be coming out of one of these holes.
    4. Get a decent sized unused zip tie and fish it down one of the mirror nut holes towards where the clips fell down.
    5. Using an upwards flicking motion - fish out the clips and knock them up and out one of the holes. You can't see but you can hear and with some repeated flicks you'll eventually make contact and knock the clips back up and out one of the holes.

Took me about an hour but if I had to do it again I could probably retrieve the 3 clips in 10-15 mins start to finish.

Hope this helps the next guy who loses these clips during a speaker install!

    Colin

Thank you for posting this info! I lost three clips and then went to dealership to purchase replacements for about $15.00 total. I will remember your post in case I hear a rattle at some future time. If not, I think I'll just leave them where they are. Again thanks!

    Hello,

I tried fishing the clips out and just had enough, with my skills it isn't going to happen for me.

Is there anyone interested in selling me three clips from the pack of 30? I would appreciate it very much.
