Horn blasters. Always wanted one, but I thought, I could spend $400/$500 on something better for my truck. If you want one, get one.

Orrrrrrrrr you could go a different route. Still expensive but just as cool. Check out a Whelen 295sl and pair it with a Whelen SA 315 and you'll be good to go :D

You train horn haters are gonna hate on me for this, but here's a $79 solution that really works and it looks great. No air compression needed.. this thing is all-electric and runs on 12v. The gauge of wire coming out the back of it is heavily shielded and looks to be 12 gauge lamp cord.

It's designed for boats so it can handle the weather. I bought one of these for an outdoor alarm project and I field tested it in uneven terrain and it can be heard clearly for over 1/4 of a mile. It's loud as f*ck up close and will get all the attention you need. You get a low and high tone horn in one set, but put two sets in your truck and OMG. I first tested it indoors in a small workshop with a simple 12v battery used for backing up home alarm systems (same batteries you use in a Power Wheels car for kids) and it damn near did permanent hearing damage. It was noticeably stronger when I touched the power wires to my truck battery.

Simple to wire up. Just wire the ground right to your battery or to a decent gauge good fuse block (at least 8 gauge wiring), then wire the positive line up to either the battery or to the same fuse block but put a manual pushbutton switch in line on the positive lead and install the switch in your cab. Get a momentary switch so you have to hold the button down just like a car horn.

I wired mine up to the same connections as my factory horn just to test it and it works that way, too. Because of its lower than expected amperage draw, the factory horn wiring could handle it without overheating or blowing the fuse. But you may not always want to have the train horn hooked up to your regular horn activator on your steering wheel, so the momentary switch somewhere in your cab is the best application for versatility.

These horns are long, so installation under the hood can get tricky. You'll probably have to fab up some simple sort of metal bracket for it beyond what it comes with. Some Taco models have more space under the hood than others. One area I suggest is to mount it under your truck bed but it's going to get the most exposed to the elements there so make sure to waterproof and secure all of your wiring connections with good crimp splices, heat shrink tubing, etc. One under the hood and one under the truck bed would be insanely loud in any direction. I have an aftermarket grill and there's just enough space to install it sideways behind my grill and in front of the radiator. I just haven't taken the time to fab a bracket for it. But by installing it here, you can just splice right into your horn wiring if you want and you don't really even need to add any extra wiring unless you want a different type of switch.

Probably on an actual decibel test, this thing wouldn't be quite as strong as an air-driven true trainhorn, but for the cost and for the simplicity it really is the best thing out there that I have found, and I've been researching consumer sirens and alarm horns and piezos for years.

My company has put Horn Blasters horns on a few fire trucks. They're expensive (especially since you'll need a full air system), but very good sound quality.
