76, Chevron, Costco. Costco gets me about 1.5-2 mpgs less than Chevron and 76 do.

On Eglin or Hurlburt AFB's if possible because of the savings and the gas is fresh. So many folks there all the time, it does not sit in their tanks for long. I DO NOT buy at the out of the way places, only in a DIRE emergency. That's where a lot of folks get into trouble with water in the gas IMHO. We have 2 stations here in town that sells gas with NO additives. Mike in answering your question, I would stay away from the mom and pop places and only go to pumps that are busy.

The station I work at! It's a local family owned place I managed to get a job at. Wrenching on cars, pumping gas. It's paying for mods and school! But I buy it there only cause the country fairs and unimarts always get water in their gas.

LED conversion on every accessible bulb, TRD exhaust (dealership threw in for free along with the Blu-Logic).
A lot of people I know drive miles to AZ just to save 10~15 c per gallon. The problem I had when I did that is the station is so busy that they are always filling their tanks. Stirs up all the sediment and their pumps don't have those huge filters, so all that sediment ends up in your tank. One of my old vehicles needed a filter every 6 months on AZ gas. Personally I don't believe that brand name gas has as much additives as they claim to.

Shell only - I don't let it get below a 1/4 tank so I hardly ever have to rush to get gas.

Not sure what my obsession is with Shell but from what I have read, admittedly mostly published by Shell, it seems to be the best all-around fuel. I also get double Reward Points on my AmEx by going there so that's an added bonus.

Chevron would be my second choice should I be in a pinch.

I'll chime in here since this is what I do for a living (refined products); all the gas is exactly the same. It comes out of the same storage tanks and is only 'branded' when it's loaded onto the transport truck. So Shell gas comes directly out of the same tank as Kroger/Walmart/whomever. Additives are all the same, just branded as well; branded additives for gasoline share an MSDS with generic. You simply pay more for the name in all cases.

I've heard this before from a family-friend who works in the refinery business.

While it makes sense, and you seem to have more knowledge about it than I do...I will most likely still spend the few cents more per gallon for Shell/Chevron. Peace of mind, maybe?
