I like this, thanks for the idea. Glock 19?

I keep mine either on me, in my backpack or tucked between the seat and console. I go places sometimes I cant carry, so it has to stay in the truck at times.

Every once in a great while, I have to hide something. I made a false bottom for the console...
Otherwise, the 642 is in my pocket. Always.

Fellow J frame enthusiast! 442 here, been all over the country with me. Usually thrown into a pocket of either my pants, or my motorcycle jacket.

You need a permit to have it in the truck? In my state your vehicle is considered an extension of your home, and the same rules apply as they would to a house. Loaded and concealed, but if it is a rifle, it must be unloaded. I have seen holsters that go under the steering column.

It is not allowed to be in plain sight. I use heat shield so it doesn't matter for me but when I had mine it went in the driver side door pocket. I made sure it was not visible from any angle.

I have a crossbreed. Paid a grip for it, don't like it... never use it.

I have a glock 19 that I almost never carry because I haven't found a fucking comfortable way to do it! I was hoping the crossbreed was it... nope.

Your state must be different. In TX it is as I said, unless the laws have changed very recently. If the handgun is unconcealed you are inviting someone to break into your vehicle.

As a resident of Kommiefornia, there can be no gun on me or in my truck! I laughed when I saw this thread title, having a gun in my truck would mean a nice fat jail sentence.

You CAN have a gun in your truck.

It just needs to have a trigger lock, in a locked case, unloaded and COMPLETELY disassembled.

The ammo needs to be in another locked case, each individual round in a separate storage container, a minimum of 6' from the secured disassembled firearm(preferably in a seperate vehicle following 3-5 car lengths away).

The key to both firearm and ammunition should be with a 3rd party in a separate vehicle taking an alternate route to the one you are taking to the shooting range to ensure proper safety and that you can't access the weapon in the event of a hainous act that may occur.

Not only is this safer for YOU, it is safer for the community around you, the environment AND it makes for a more enjoyable day of "plinking"....it's true, California did a study on it and 9.8 out of 10 liberals agreed

When I was required to carry I always hated it.

To me packing a handgun combines the worst elements of carrying a brick, a baby, and the world's most poisonous snake.
It is heavy, you sure don't want to lose it or drop it, and it can kill someone instantly.

    IT NEVER ENDS..........

I agree I either carry on my hip or appendix. If it is in my truck it is in a kydex holster and then in console or a go bag with extra mags. If I move it out of truck it stays in kydex holster and goes into a bag and then into house or back on my hip.

Question about this closed cell foam idea........just wondering do you keep it loaded with one in the chamber or just magazine in? When grabbing this out of the foam how do you not put your finger in the trigger well? I like the idea but would have made the foam cut out large enough to grab around pistol grip a bit easier to keep finger straight and off trigger!

I Like the idea though as well as the hideaway underneath with foam. It really comes down to which state you live in and if you have your CWP. Get your permit, Know your laws and always carry........ with an extra mag!!!!

This was made with a furniture grade foam from Joann's Fabric or whatever that place is called. I know it was too crazy to be in there with all those batshitcrazywomen.

since it is a very soft foam (think of it as cheap memory foam) there is plenty of "give" to just slide your hands around the pistol and extract without ever having poor finger placement. I put a coat of red flexi-dip over the foam for looks, but wish I had just left it be.

Very well put. Since I left the job I rarely even think about carrying anymore, although I could if I needed to. I'm all for the Second Amendment and the concept of responsible personal protection. But consider that, many times, just by carrying a firearm you introduce one into a situation where there wasn't one before. The responsibility of that is worth thinking about from time to time.
