I got my Schoshe kit in the other day and thought the same thing. I'm not sure whether I like the fact that it isn't textured like the original. Do you know whether the metra is textured and whether it provides a closer color match?

Yes, the Metra kit is textured and it matches very closely (if not perfectly).
