Where Have You Off-Roaded Today? 3rd Gen

The Imogene Pass Road, Ouray, Colorado. Stock except for BFG KO2 tires and RCI sliders. I wasn't much of a believer in crawl control until I used it. It made quick work out of a few hairy spots.

 

I navigated it pretty well!
And it's all about respect, see it all but leave no footprint.
I can't bare to do the touristy stuff, rather get off the beaten path and see what most tourist don't.

Is there such a thing as off-road rentals there?

 

Only ones that I know of are Jeeps from all the usual companies, or Harper truck rental. I know Harper has Rangers, F-150's and Rams. Most people rent them to move stuff, but my friend rented a 4x4 Ranger to go camping last time he was here. Just gotta be hush hush about the offroad use haha.

That's a nice area. I usually spend some time at Pacific Beach a few times each year.

 

Finally after almost a year of ownership, I took my stock TRD Offroad up some fairly easy (2s and 3s) trails near Central City, Colorado today. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face. I got to try out all the gidgets and gadgets. Even tried my rear locker. At one point I found myself going up a hill at 30degrees. Coming from a mildly modified jeep, my toyota surprised me. Can't wait to try slightly harder trails.

 

Pacific Beach is nice, so close to Moclips, we shoot over there to pick up things if we run out, Moclips has one little market, no gas

 

Drove down to South Padre Thursday evening hoping to catch some swell, surf, from that Florida hurricane that was in the gulf. Surf was mediocre Friday morning so wife and I did some 4 wheelin up the coast, 15 miles out and away from anybody....awesome day at beach. Went up on top of the dunes, some are about 30 ft high, truck in background....that little dot.

Camping in Kodiak Alaska. Had a great time. Got the Tacoma stuck once, she needs a lift. Powered through the same spot on the way back to camp. I've run this Tacoma through some shit terrain and it have had no issues with. Very happy with my purchase. Getting close to 15k miles on it.
