    Oops!

Went on a snow wheeling trip yesterday in Northern Michigan - part of the trail went into a valley, and then into a steep, twisting, and tight up hill climb to get out; with the first small section being fairly rough and rutted out. Had some tight squeezes, but made it up to the top without a scratch... then the last person in the group to come up called up to us that he had a problem. He had hit a stump in the first rutted out section and broke his steering sector shaft (jeep JKU), so total loss of steering. We had no choice but to turn around and come back down. That's where the oops part for me comes in... coming down was really slippery, and it was hard to slow the momentum. Had some close calls, but was doing just fine until the last tight turn... front end slid sideways into a tree, then backed up, drove off of it, just to have the rear slide into the same spot.

Too bad it wasn't just the front fender, would have been a good excuse to put fiberglass on and then go LT, lol. But alas, this will be an insurance claim and head to the body shop. All cosmetic though, drove it home just fine... unlike the unlucky JKU, we had to get a little creative to tow it off the trails and get it on to a trailer.

First picture is from much earlier in the day (not the hill the carnage happened on), the picture I wanted to post on this thread initially, lol... the second is the broken JKU, and the last two are my resulting damage. Didn't take many other pictures as our focus was on figuring out how to get the jeep off the hill and then off the trail.

Got to explore a bit more of what Northern California has to offer. Did some driving around in the Shasta-Chappie OHV area a bit West of Redding in the Keswick area and close to Shasta Dam.

Came in along the Keswick area and here you'll see a part of the Keswick Reservoir..

Also did my first water crossing! Intimidating, I know...

Finally made it out and to the other end of the trail where I caught the road up to and over Shasta Dam...

And here's the shot of the Keswick Reservoir just below Shasta Dam.

The area is beautiful and there is a ton to do and see. The trails system is extensive and as challenging as you want to make it. The trout fishing is supposedly very good down there below the Dam. I saw some beautiful looking pockets where there are certainly fish. Will have to get down there and check it out closer when there's more time!

Yeah, they look great and have performed great so far too, definitely loving them so far! I saw that one but it looked like a narrow fit and I didn't want to add any pinstripes quite yet hahah. I didn't explore that staging area too much because there were a bunch of people on dirt bikes smashing around. I didn't really see any mud pits as I drove by. We definitely need some rain though! Lets hit some more trails man!! :fistbump:

As of this moment (10am) the sun is just starting to peak over the mountains and will be back down by about 4pm. Basically, you get to drive to/from work in the dark and watch the sunlight from your desk haha.

This was in St Helen, sort of somewhere in between St Helen and West Branch. Have been through Mio quite a few times, namely for Bull Gap; and have a family cabin in Mikado.

My plan as well. Seems like staying stock size is definitely the minority on here.

Got off the beaten path into the desert in Nevada. Found a secluded canyon where others before us had set up and make shift shooting range. Perfect for my kid and I to get out and do some target shooting of our own. Love Nevada....absolutely my favorite place to explore and do all things outdoor.
