Otay Mountain Truck Trail today.

 

Went to Joshua Tree/BLM and took Old Dale Road to go through the canyons.

It's hardly off-road, but it is off highway - the gravel roads in Basin & Range National Monument are quite well maintained, even with fresh snow over old snow. It was fun yesterday!

Yeah, we had 30" here at the house. Blasted the 1/4 mile out to the street in 4Lo last night when it finally stopped. Bashing the 4 foot plow berm was mildly entertaining.

 

Been a pretty mild winter for me but I’m in NE Wa and live in a little snow belt. Funny to see everyone freak in Seattle

 

it doesn't appear you have any mods to your suspension. May I ask what tire size you have? And please correct me if I am mistaken. Thanks.

 

On stock TRD Sport suspension, I have 265/70/17 BFG KO2 on @SCSPerformance Ray 10. Rubbing on the front left tire on the front inner wheel/tire fender when I turn 75% to the right when going forward and reversing.

First real outing with the topper / bed setup. Highs in the upper 30s, lows around 15. The dogs and I were pretty comfy, especially with the Mr Heater Buddy (just for warming up the back occasionally to cook, hang out before bed, wake up etc). I'm pretty impressed with the ease and utility of truck bed camping - it really helps take the bite off the season and inspires a true sense of playful freedom exploratory pursuits.

Loving the truck! Really enjoyed the getaway from a bit of heavy-winter cabin fever, which apparently I spent huddled inside a smaller cabin trying to stay warm lol.

 

Randomly exploring after we woke up to a light snowstorm near Pyramid Lake in NV public lands. I just installed these tires from stock and holy hell is there a difference in capability.

 

Blessed to have places like this within 45 minutes of my home. Took the family on an adventure.

Not off road as much as the end of the road. This is the winter end of maintenance on the Stampede Road just outside of the Denali national park.



The road goes back another 20 miles or so I think before it hits the Teklanika river but gets narrow pretty quickly and I didn’t think I’d be able to turn around by myself if I got stuck.

For those of you familiar with the “Into the Wild” story this is where Chris McCandless was dropped off to hike back into the wilderness. The magic bus is on the other side of the river a few miles further out into the wilderness.
