Okay, so this wasn't today. It wasn't even this week. Betwixt opening day and working on the truck and just driving it, been so busy actually DOING stuff that I haven't had the time nor the inclination to post. That is actually good, right?

Buddy and I took a trip last week up the Nahatlatch Valley/Mountain/River/Provincial Park.

Of course, the critters were taunting us....lots of sign, but no actual critters. Except doe. And grouse. Neither of which were open.

But....the Nahatlatch Lookout is a decommissioned Forest Service Lookout at the top (12 metres) of Nahatlatch Mountain. The site and the building are maintained by the 4 Wheel Drive Association of BC, so I felt justifiably proud to sign my name in the guest book. It's like being able to say "My tax dollars at work". Without the pork barrel references.

Cool trip up the mountain...it is the first time since I have had my Taco that I actually had the chance to do some true 'technical' 4x4 driving (navigating decommissioned logging roads or a metre of snow are not challenging tasks, just hard frickin' work) where I had to plan my path and use a spotter in places...and pucker up a few times too. Pretty grateful for a lower centre of gravity, methinks.

This is also the first time that I have ever actually used the Crawl Control function, and I gotta say, I am duly impressed...I tried to navigate a couple spots on my own in 4Low but served only to dig some drainage dishes...switched over to Crawl Control and the Grey Ghost climbed like a goat. Impressed my buddy who is waiting for a new Bronco (yeah, I know, I think he might be a closet Vegan too, and he's driving one of those modern kinda like El Caminos now. At least it is not a Ridgeline) enough that he might now consider a Taco.

Awesome adventure, great views...a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Even if the mulies and bruins were laughing at us.

And for the record, I meant 1200 metres.

    Sigh.

Nothing spectacular as far difficultly but got some decent pictures of Miller Lake Oregon. Haven't been there in over 20 years. It was just as I remember it. Beautiful and chilly. First snow I have seen this year much higher than we made it.

Been pretty preoccupied with work this summer. But previously I had hit every trail in my area. Hoping to have more time to repeat in the future.

It's my happy place for sure.

Which trails did you do? I'm not super familiar with that area, only been down Mattole Rd.
