I absolutely agree about the trail to the Black Canyon Overlook. Boring drive and nothing to see when you get there. On the other hand the picture of my truck next to cactus that is above my name is from that trail. Still wouldn't recommend taking it.

There’s maybe one semi-scenic spot, and that’s the little confluence of saguaros. This trail should be removed from the AZ trail guide, no redeeming qualities. I took these photos- one at the saguaros & one at the disappointing terminus:

That was not on my immediate list ... but I will remember that. First I need to conquer the ones I had to abandon because I was too earyl in off-roading. Also a couple of hiking trails I want to return to, now that I think I have the leg strength and better shoes for them. I might even try this "wall" (no joke, the bottom part is 90 degree vertical) in Picacho State Park.

Nice! It looks cold up there, plus there’s another taco sneaking up in the background. :D

Yep, a bit chilly - the wind didn’t help either. The other truck is mi amigo. Taken a few days ago.

How did the LB do on broken arrow and going down the stairs? That’s one trail I still need to do in Sedona.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Well Covid kept me house bound for the last 3 weeks.

Finally got out yesterday and just puttered around locally and a bit of casual hiking. This offroad area accessed after just 30 minutes of city driving.

However, it fiinally rained up in the mountains!

That was so freaking awesome. Plus at midday at this elevation it was a cool 13c (55F). Hiking in that rain was so refreshing.

Kelowna has had only 3 inches of rain since January 1st, so the rain was much needed. Not much fell in Kelowna but the mountains on the west side got a good dump.

If only we could get another week of rain it would help slow down some of the 400 fires still burning in BC. Most of BC still in drought conditions.

Yup, Covid is no joke. Wife and I both hit, and bad. We go nowhere and do not socialize yet it still found us. Our rock we are under was not sufficient protection. Hermits r us.

5 years and 3 months after purchasing my truck, finally took it trail riding on a NH class 6 road in Brentwood that I found on the website below for all the NH folks on TW.

Did our first black diamond trail near our area. This was only 4 miles but tons of rocky sections and last rock garden with some high roll over sections. Glad we made it out with minor scratches.

Rainy day in Big Bear a couple weeks ago.

It had just started coming down in this pic. There's nothing like the smell of fresh rainfall in the mountains...

Took advantage of non-dusty conditions yesterday in Sedona during summer monsoon & hit some trails & forest service roads, as well as the indigenous Honanki cliff dwelling ruins. If you’ve never experienced it, rain in the desert is hard to beat- the smell, the colors, the way cloud cover traps in the sounds of the desert & amplifies them. Sedona is basically my backyard & I’ve been there a million times, but something about yesterday made me more grateful than ever that I can be here any weekend I choose.
