Because it’s obvious which midsize truck is superior... hence why Yahoo (also an inferior company) is seeking which truck comes in number two.

It seems the criterion for the review was based on desirable features in a mini van.

Let me see, the market unquestionably decides to the Tacoma as the runaway bestseller - and is omitted? Maybe the headline should read: The Best Mid-Size Pickup You Can Buy...That Is Not A Tacoma"?

I have noticed that the Automotive media is really biased against Toyota/Lexus. It's not just the Tacoma. I don't really understand why.

People buy Toyota/Lexus for Long-term. Most of the automotive reviewers don't really have vehicles for more than few days. Maybe that's why. Other brands may have better initial impressions.

Funny thing is...the auto-journalist will fall over backwards for FCA and GM. I can't think any worse brands than those two.

You guys read the article? They mention why the Tacoma is not on the list. I guess our trucks don't behave like modern vehicles.

The new market for mid-sized trucks only cares about how much of a car a truck can be

For people who use like buying vehicles that don't have 100000000+ issues and look good, as well as off-roading ability then the Tacoma and sometimes even the Frontier are better. The magazines hate them because they don't have any new fancy features to write about and they don't draw in clicks for ad revenue

Well then.... i'd like my truck to feel like a truck. Pretty sure that's one of the reasons I got a truck.

I read the article last night and it made no sense considering the 3rd Gen came out in 2016.

They see the platform as old. They don't understand that the reason the frame/engines haven't changed much is that they actually work and work well. That's why a 10 year old tacoma will sell for more than a 3 year old dodge/ford/jeep all day

Similar to recent comparisons of the F-150 to Ram 1500 and Silverado. Ford always seems to come in third place yet outsells them. Go figure.

New Ram and Silverado are very nice trucks. F-150 feels old when compared to those 2 now.

Car and Driver's policy is that vehicles that loose a comparison review don't get invited back to future comparisons unless there are significant revisions. The 3rd gen lost to a Colorado back in 2016, hence a 3rd gen will not appear in another comparison review unless it gets a new engine/transmission/major mechanical overhaul since they've (according to their measures) already establish the Colorado is a better vehicle.

Of course, this says nothing about where they would slot the Taco between the other competitors.

Yet they still outsell both of them by huge margins.
