Traded in a 2018 Tacoma for a 2021. Trying to transfer Tekonsha Prímula IQ OEM Brake controller, with same adapter wire.

I can’t find anything anywhere in the inter webs that says the 2021 is any different from other 3rd Gen, but I can’t find the OEM brake controller plug where is was in the 2018, and there is a new plug I don’t recognize under the steering column. I was hoping I was lucky and it’s a better placed plug... but it doesn’t fit my adapter.

Is this plug under the steering column the OEM plug? If so, which adapter do I need? Sites all show the same adapter for 2016+ Thanks

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
If it came with the factory tow package you should find it behind the tangle of wires circled in yellow.

It does have the tow package, you can see the connections in the plugs in the back. I looked in that mess, should I see a white plug just hanging out with no friends (not plugged into anything), or is it plugged into something to hold it in place?

You should find a plug not connected to anything.

Just dangling there. Some people have reported that it's buried in there.

That is what I expected... I looked all over, no luck. I’ll keep trying, thanks! Any idea what that socket is under the steering wheel?

That's your OBDII port... Unless you're joking due to today's Friday thread.

Trace these wires... they look like the right quantity (4), the right colors (blue, red, white, black) and size...

I had a hard time finding the plug also, when I was convinced I didn’t have the plug I must have knocked it free

Joking, no, more like desperate to find something to plug it into! But it clearly had way too many wires.

Mine was very hard to find when I hooked up my RedArc tow pro.
Look behind the bundle of wires everyone posted a pic of it's there. Mine was way back up near the fire wall and hard to see but I found it.

Found it! I had to not be so shy about pushing some wires around, thanks for everyone’s help!

No worries. It's a common condition.
