Where is the Reverse signal for the backup camera on 3rd gens? Im trying to T-tap into the Tacoma factory reverse backup camera signal but I cant find it. I installed an aftermarket headunit. Does anyone have a location or pictures/color of wire I need to tap into ? Thanks

Are you trying to tap the wires behind the stock head unit? Because if so, I'd recommend against using T-taps. They are pretty thin wires and it would probably be worth it to you to solder your connections. If those are the wires you're looking for I can snap some pics later tonight to show you where I made my connections.

IMG_0282.jpg This might help also. The reverse signal is pin 2. Power to this pin will activate your backup camera and reverse lights.

Yeah Im pretty much just trynna tap the reverse signal wire, so when I shift into reverse my aftermarket radio displays the backup camera. I have the ground and accessory wire figured out already, I just need the location on that reverse wire. So, if i tap in to pin#2 will it work when shifting my truck into reverse and displaying the backup camera on my unit?

Ok so the way pin 2 works is....when you shift into reverse a 12v signal is sent to that pin to tell your head unit to display the rear camera. So you will still need to have your reverse camera feed sent to your new head unit. There is no video feed coming in on pin 2, it is just on/off. Does that answer your question?

Yes, I think so. So pin #2 trips the backup camera to display. The yellow RCA jack is what gives the video feed to the aftermarket unit. The ground is just grounded out. The accessory wire is wired into the ignition switch wire (red wire for me) when the truck is turned on. Am I correct on this?

If it is an aftermarket backup camera, then yes you should be correct.

Its an aftermarket radio that im trying to retain the oem camera from Toyota but I think I know exactly what you mean now. I forgot to mention im using this harness AX-TOYCAM3 Retain Factory Back-up Camera to Aftermarket Radio for Select Toyota. Its basically Plug and play expect for tapping into Negative Ground, Accessory Wire, and Reverse signal. Thank you for the help

Just make sure you get the right pin for the reverse signal. In your truck it'll be a colored wire but here's a picture I grabbed from another thread showing the location in the harness. IMG_0283.jpg

I’m trying to connect an Alpine camera switch so I can switch between my front and rear cameras. I have included the instructions in the pic and trying to find the reverse in and reverse out wires to tap into. Would the reverse in be the #2 wire? Any suggestions on how to connect? Thanks!

So which wire would be the reverse in and which wire would be the reverse out?

So connect them both to #2?

In the info you posted it shows it mates with the AV head Unit other orange n white...I don't know what Alpine Unit you have. Are there 2 orange n white coming out of the AV Unit?
