I am installing 12V LEDs in the bed of my 3rd Gen Tacoma and can't find always on 12V back there. I'd hate to have to run 1 wire to the front of the vehicle but I will if I have too.

Does anyone know where to tap into always on 12V at the rear of the 3rd Gen Tacoma?

No. Not true. I've checked. Only powered when in accessory or running.

Run the leads. You will be glad to have it.
I run a 60 into the console and branch from there. I ran a 30 to the rear for same. The rear set up a 1 inch conduit with heat wrap from the master cylinder past the manifold and along the brake lines. After that yo can fish switch and relay lines as needed without even getting under the truck. Well worth the 30 minutes to set up branch circuits to the rear.

A 60 and 30 what? Fuse? I should really get the fuse/gnd box that installs under the hood and wire to it. I'll be happier in the long run, I'm sure.

    Your pvc idea sounds intriguing.

Is running the wire a total PIA, yes? Is it rewarding and maybe the best mod I have ever done, yes.

I ran a 60 amp feed through the firewall and into the spot under the console. From there I branch off 3A, 7.5A, 10A as needed for accessories. This way my connections are all in one place and I only add one line to the firewall grommet.

Similarly I ran a 30 A feed to the back of the truck for lights and etc. That is also branched as needed. It runs down from the battery past the master cylinder and follows the brake lines in the aforementioned shielded tube. Note, I did run a black with it as the back half of the truck is plastic.

Really nice mod but I just can't bring myself to put sticky backs on my glass. The end product is really nice though.

why not? 3m will peel off easy if you want it too, there is also goo gone. and if you don't have windoors or cap then you don't need to. the hole you have to drill for the switch concerns you less than 3m tape?

I guess it does. I put sticky backs under my hood and just hate it. A buddy gave me some tar looking stuff that sticks really well to the LED strips and the hood which negates the need for the sticky backs. So I will be getting some Goo Gone for that.

In answer to your initial response, to each his own. I did say the end product looks really good though. Sorry you took offense.

Definitely agree, totally worth the effort. Love how useful my 12v blue sea panel is. Especially paired with a oversize deep cycle AGM battery
