So I have been slowly but steadily modifying my 2023 Tacoma TRD Off-Road over the past year. I will not try & list them all but it all has definitely added weight and made the lack of power & shifting issues (well known in these trucks) much worse. The Pedal Commander I installed & using the ECT button has helped, but I am about to put new, larger tires on my truck & from what I have read this could make the power/shifting problems worse AND reduce MPG even further. Plan is to go to 33" tires but stay at stock 16" wheel size (not sure if I will replace the stock wheels or not at this point). I currently have a 3/2 leveling kit installed.

I was hoping the fine people on this forum could help me out by sharing relevant experiences with these issues & any solutions they have discovered. Perhaps people have recommendations for a shop in Alabama (I am in Mobile) that does good, honest work on re-gearing & tuning?

Thanks & I hope you are all out enjoying this perfect weather!

Are you mechanically inclined? If so, I’d recommend buying the front diff/xfer case and rear diff from East Coast Gear supply and swapping them yourself. They’ll send the parts to you and then you ship your take offs to them. Give them a call, I’ve heard nothing but great things about their shop and customer service.

Thanks for the response. I have never been the most mechanically inclined person in the world, however, I have been trying to learn/teach myself & have done all of the modifications on my truck except for the leveling kit. Just a tad wary of trying to tackle this project alone & being without a ride when I have to work!

Maybe they would know of a shop down this way?

You’re welcome and they just might. I was going to suggest posting in the region you’re in but I see that’s what you did already.

Sorry I can’t offer an more info. A tune might help in the short term, I have OTT and am really happy with it. Just talk with a local tuner and see if they’ll give you a deal for a update once you have new gears.

I may post on the Mississippi region site as well given how close they are to me here in mobile. Hopefully one of these approaches works!

Thanks again for the response & suggestions!
