Where to buy OME Suspension Kit?

Trying to figure out where to buy a OME suspension kit from. Heard some people knocking wheelers lately. Heard some people recommending Headstrong but they’re price is like $300 more than wheelers or toytec.

 

Got it from Wheeler's; no problems and it shipped quickly.

I had horrible luck contacting Headstrong.

 

From what I can tell, wheelers charges no tax or shipping so that’s definitely a plus.

 

My girl ended up getting them for me; I had left the page up and she ordered them for me herself lol

But yes Wheeler's is who I was going to use had I ordered the leaf pack myself.

They also have extended bump stops which I did order from them; might as well get it all at once if I were you as well as an extended rear brake line.

 

Doesn’t the wheelers kit come with brake lines?

 

The brake line I consider to be a "supporting" mod.

It's not something that'll come with the OME kit.

I used my own shocks for my Dakar leaf pack..

95PF5 front trim packer
GS12 greasable shackles & Wheeler’s poly bushings

I've gotten OME suspension kits and ARB bullbars for several Tacomas from Wil Kuhns at Sierra Expeditions in Mesa AZ. He offers the standard ARB catalog items. Wil's pricing has been as good as anyones and his service has been commendable.

He almost always offers free shipping. Sierra Expeditions has a shop in the Phoenix area.

 

I only used what was in the wheelers kit, minus the brake hanger thing. I just took a sawzall to the exhaust

I ordered (again) from Wheelers with assembled front struts.

With the Pandemic, it was taking Wheeler's a little longer to get the struts assembled and packaged up. I'm not mad, after a few days of not seeing a tracking number, I shot them an email. They responded with an apologetical response with an ETA. A couple days before the ETA, I got an email from them heads up on a delay.

 

So I am also considering purchasing the ome kit with the 881s. Issue I'm having is everyone has said to get the diff drop to help with cv angles. On wheelers there doesn't seem to be an option to add that to the kit and the description doesn't say anything about it either. On bilstein lift it has that option in it. Bilstein doesn't offer coil assembly like wheelers but the price is higher even though they don't offer that any longer.

Long story longer do I have to purchase the diff drop kit separately from wheelers? Also any opinions on the leaf pack vs the 1.5 block for rear is greatly appreciated.

 

Just buy a diff drop separate. I am never going to suggest anyone throw blocks on anything, your leafs probably need to be replaces anyways. And if youre buying the kit from wheelers it comes with dakars

 

Thank you. I bring up the diff drop only after going through about 30 pages on here from a different ome 1st gen setup thread and many people had said their cvs were burping grease. The overwhelming consensus was due to them not installing diff drops.

So I'm about to place the order, this is my first lift is there anything outside the standard ome kit I should consider or that I would need for everything to be done proper? Again thank you all for your advice and support

 

I'm just being indecisive lol I'm trying to cross every t and dot every i ya know. I have a limited knowledge when it comes to doing any after market stuff such as adjusting ride heights. I'm really only looking to get a couple inches and replace my worn out stock stuff. And it seems that the ome kit will accomplish all of that. I don't have a heavy bumper or winch so the 881s will do just fine and I use my truck for work so I usually have tile and other flooring and roofing materials in the bed or on the racks and dakkars seem to be a resilient leaf pack.

So yeah I think the kit from the wheelers site is my best option at this point. I'll share the progress with yall.
