Looking to de-chromify my truck. I know I can paint but if they are cheap then not worth my time. Looking for front emblem and "Toyota Tacoma" emblems and SR5V6 in smoke grey. Thanks

Dont know where you can get them but, honestly, it might be cheaper to paint yourself.

Sorry never heard of the stuff. How would you plastdip without removing??? Also doesn't it peel bad in heat and extreme cold? Thanks.

PD is starting to become more popular in Canada now. I only heard of it this past year and started using it. It's usually sold at Home Hardware, Auto Value. I am not too sure about Toronto, you should be able to find it.

You prep the area. Spray(6 or more coats) it on and leave it. It goes on like paint and dries with a plastic coating. PD was originally used to protect tools. If you don't like it, peel it off. Doesn't wreck the chrome.

The only ones OEM are the X-runner badges and I only think its the tailgate emblems. They aren't too cheap either.

    Example: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/115586-black-x-runner-badges.html

Many threads here on plasti-dip. I've never used it but all you do is mask off the surrounding area, spray it with some good light coats and then you can just peal it off around the lettering and use a toothpick to clean up the rest (areas inside the letters)

So you've never heard of it.... but then say it peels in heat/cold?

But no, lots of people here have applied and it if it does peel you can just re-apply. Faster and cheaper than buying new emblems. Folks have used this in Phoenix and Alaska... sure you'll be fine.

Just by the nature of the description of PlastiDip, a person could easily assume it was susceptible to the elements...

So for example the centre of the "O" you would just peel off with a toothpick? Is that easy?

Yeah it's very simple. As long that it's not totally wet and totally dry, it will peel off.

Just youtube plasti dip Tacoma badges. I watch the video once and was able to do all the badges on my truck. Just tape the area off and around the badges from spray from the plasti dip. simple and easy. Holds up very well in hot and cold weather and in car washes with brushes.lol
