I just recently bought a 2020 DC OR and I'm trying to do some mods while I'm making ridiculous amounts of money and before I head back to the mainland. I'm not sure if it is even worth it to get stuff done on the island due to everything costing an arm and a leg.

A list of things I'd like to do:

Icon Stage 8 or 9 lift
    Icon wheels and 35" tires
Re gear to 4.88 or 5.29 (not sure which one)
Still figuring out which front bumper I want
More than likely CBI high clearance on the rear with double swing outs
bed rack with roof top tent
Prinsu rack over the cab with accessories

Should I just wait until I get back or will Maui Offroad or whatever else shops are on the island square me away?

    Many Mahalos!

If cost is a factor in your decision making process, save up while you’re here and buy all the parts and install them when you return to mainland.

if cost isn’t a factor, any shop can order you the parts, you could even order them yourself directly. If you don’t know where to order from, you could always go through our preferred local vendors like Universal 4x4 and Combs Performance. But, you need to know exactly which parts you want.

And I would be reluctant to have any shop install or mod your truck. The shop in Waipahu has been known for shady installs (wheels falling off because they forgot to torque the lug nuts properly), and Maui Offroad has been known to stack spacer plates and also make recommendations for unnecessary mods.

From the list of items you have above, your wallet is pretty deep and your build should be solid. LOL.
If you get impatient and start ordering parts, @hacklerjason is out local mod guru and can help you install just about anything for your truck.

@seoulja99 My pockets are somewhat deep haha I've got a pretty good gig with my housing situation. I'll still have to save up for some of the purchases, but I'm also worried about shipping my vehicle back to the mainland when the time comes. Seems like I'll just wait until I get back so I can do it all at once.

Lift is fairly easy to do.
Regearing on the other hand, some have done, but definitely out of my ability range.

I was wondering about this also. For a small thing like spacers to get a 2 inch lift.

I just hate how much shipping costs to get the parts over here.

    Didn't Daryl move to Vegas?

Best prices for parts I've found is 4WP online and have it sent to the store in Waipahu.
Maui Offroad is a RIP OFF! on their prices!
F'd up my Friends Ford by installing a Crappy BDS lift. His CV boots blew out within 2 mo. and his CV bearing will be shot soon! They refused to help him correct the problem. Claiming that's how the lift worked. (If that is the case why the heel do they even sell that Crap!) But that's a different story! LMAO!

Gears I recommend 5.29 for 35" tires. As for the racks and tent?? That you might want to wait until you get back to the states. Unless you plan to do a lot of camping?

Icon lift is a really simple R&R install. Not very hard. Take your truck to the Hobbie Shop on base and they can help you out!

Tried to run a search. Couldn’t find anything. Looking for a welder. Who do you guys use for your sliders/bumpers/etc? Plan b fabrication?

Most locals that make their own armor do it for themselves. The cost to have them make you something would probably be about the same as ordering from a mainland vendor. There are locals like @hacklerjason that can do CMC, cab mount relo, and custom mods (electrical, shackle replacement, shock relo, etc.).

Thanks for the advice. Definitely plan on buying pre built sliders in the future if I go that route.

Sorry I guess I used bad examples tho. I have a simple panhard lift/drop bracket set I want to get welded in. Was just using sliders/bumpers as an example since I seen some of the guys here are running um.

CDT Machinery / Plan B Fabrications out in Kaneohe. Daniel is solid, knew him thru my oldest braddah for about 9 years now and he probably has setup cages/sliders/bumpers for most of the hardcore off-road guys on the east side. Don’t know how busy he is nowadays, but if you want quality work then he’s worth a look.
