    Hey all,

I'm looking to colrmatch my chrome grille, and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for a place to get SW paint in a rattle can, and some clear coat I suppose.

I realize my dealer could probably get me some but I can't imagine what the price would be. Does anyone have good experience with color matching a chrome gille white yourself?

Thanks, I've done some searching but didn't find much

Had tons on the old Taco's.... new Tundra is pretty stock
Autozone and Napa carry the Super White for these trucks. I picked up a couple cans and colormatched my grille with it.

I did my headlights (BHLM). I bought 3 cans. Only used 1, but I know I'll be doing other things in the near future.

IMO I'd get 2 cans just to be sure. Last thing you want is to be 90% thru the mod and run out of paint, or have the can start sputtering because it's getting low.

I tried superwhite from 2 places, paintscratch.com and autozone and can't get either of them to match. The clear coat yellows out the white paint and even the base paint doesn't match the truck. Anyone actually matched super white from a rattle can?

    I just ordered 2 cans.
I want to color match my T Rex eye lids, should I primer, then paint, then clear coat?
    Or skip the primer?

    Never skip primer.

Also I'd sand first, clean with alcohol, let dry thoroughly, then primer, paint a few coats, and several clears.

+1, also applying adhesion promoter wouldn't hurt either.

Before the primer, lightly sand the surface with 400 grit wet/dry paper, clean with denatured alcohol and a clean paper towel, then prime. I would use 2 light coats of primer, at least 3 coats of color, and 4 coats of clear. After it is completely dry (4-6 hours), wet sand with 600 grit wet/dry sand paper, and follow that up with a liquid (non-abrasive) polishing compound with a Mothers Powerball. After all that is done, put on a good coat of wax.

Would the stuff in that link be good for a 2010 swb? I got my first chip today (1 month old) and I wanna touch it up asap.

Is the can better to get or would a pen work just as good?

For something that small I'd just get a pen from your dealership. Put a little on there, and buff and wax over it. You'll probably still be able to see the place it happened because you won't have a clear coat over it and the paint won't be as thick but you'll have to look hard for it.
