Where to go shooting?

One of the reasons I moved here is to hunt. Where can I get some longer range rifle practice in Colorado?

 

Bunce school road and around ironclads trail. Alot of people out there on weekend. A lot of valleys and rocky areas right off road.

I found that. Most are shorter ranges.

Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex looks promising.

Other decent option is Pawnee national grassland. There's a 100 yd range, but most of the grassland is open to rec shooting, but you'll have to find a safe spot and set everything up yourself.

 

There's an outdoor range in Salida that is up to around 600yrds. And it's free. Beware of shooting in open rec areas, you'll need to check for fire bans.

 

Lol, seems like tons of great options far away from Denver.

 

Yeah, I don't know of any places that have anything longer than 100yrds close to town

 

I don't shoot but I know there's a range at cherry creek state park in Aurora also

Nope, they still have restrictions that make no sense. My buddy could shoot his 7mm Rem Mag 180gr at 3100fps on any range he wanted. I could only shoot my 300WSM 180gr at 3100fps on two specific lanes "because it's a 300 and will go right over the hill into main post if you miss". Apparently having practically identical ballistics but a tiny bit smaller bullet makes everything safe.
