This has maybe been covered elsewhere but I haven't had any luck finding a solid answer..

Does anyone know if you will run into problems if you install thule/yakima tracks over the reinforced section of a snug top camper shell? It seems preferable to install it on the outside of the reinforced area but that is a very wide section.

I'm putting together a prinsu style rack but I'm debating on going with 44in crossbars or 47in crossbars. With 44in bars I don't think I'd be able to mount the tracks on the outside of the reinforcement and still be able to actually mount to the rack.

If only there were multiple threads complete with descriptions and pictures on this subject within this subforum. ;)

If you are talking about the thick panel section in the middle of the shell then go outside of it, it's just a honeycomb type material to keep the fiberglass from flexing and it's crushable.
