I, like most of us was either at school or at work. I was at work at a Sam's club. A friend of mine came to us in shipping/receiving department and told us a plane hit the Trade Center. Well, some dude in a private jet messed up and it will be on the news when I get home, that was around 6 or 7 if I remember. By lunch time at 10 am we were all in front of a wall of 15 big screen televisions watching with customers, managers, and employees. Work stopped for quite some time. Hell I don' t remember much of that day. I did call my dad on a pay phone, went home and went numb

I was on the mess deck of the USS Tortuga (LSD-46) as a GM3, in the yards at MHI in norfolk (the annex behind PETA HQ). Pre-911 Navy was pretty good, Post-911, after I got to my team, was better. I fear that we as American's have too short a memory about what happened. Never forget those who've died, Never forget those who killed them.

My Tacoma was only 4 months old at that time-I remember it was Tuesday and I had to work that day 6AM-3PM. I had absolutely no idea of the horrors until I got in my truck and fired it up at 5:30AM and instantly my cabin was filled with life-changing shocking gothic surreality. My drive to work was like I was floating on ether. When I got there nobody of 90+ employees had any idea until I broke out my portable radio there and put it on the P.A. system. This was a Safeway store by the way and the boss allowed me to run that radio like that all day. I remember Peter Jennings was bringing us the unfolding mess. I will NEVER forget and I know you wont either. This is the battle of good and evil right now. We will win it too.

I was getting ready for an English class when my mom called and told me to turn on the TV. I cannot describe the feeling other than it was the worst feeling I have ever felt. I have become much more patriotic since then and continue to remember those lost that day.
Much respect for our military men and women who fight for our freedoms.

I was working on the South Jersey Light Rail Project rebuilding and old Commercial railline into a combo light rail commuter line on a beautifull sunny day,my co worker(boss) had to run home to get something from his house(local area) and he yelled out of his front door to me me sitting out front of his house in a work van to get my ass in hear and see this. On TV the 1st Tower was in flames and nobody knew at that time if it was an accident or mistake that a plane hit the tower then moments later the second jet hit the 2nd tower and I guess we knew that it wasnt an accident and were at a loss for who the Hell would do such a thing,I guess we were all naive about the US getting such a major Terrorist attack on our soil it didnt really sink in. After awhile the job said that we could go home early and didnt say why but we all knew why,the next day we came to work and were told very saddly that no one was really in the mood to work and to go home, leaving I remember seeing the American flags hanging at half mast all over town and thinking about all the kids who wouldnt see thier parents no more or for that matter all the men, women and kids who died that day and thier rescuers too. One thing that I will never forget is when they showed those POS Palestinians cheering that some Moslems did this act,and all those other countries acting like we deserved this for some reason, that Ill never forgive.

I had just awakened early on a school day and went into the living room to see my parents watching T.V. with a "glassy" look over their eyes.....eyes the size of baseballs.
Turned around and saw the smoke pouring out of one of the WTC towers.
I remember getting ready for school and going out every so often to see what was happening next...and I remember the 2nd plane coming in and striking the other tower. And at that point I turned to my dad and told him that we're under attack this was no accident, he looked back at me and said, "yes Son, we are under attack".

After that I ran down the hall to my sisters room, told her to get the hell up, and watch the news......because history was being made today.

Just before I headed out the door....the first tower collapsed. I just couldn't believe it.

In Honduras on deployment. Civvies asked me if my radio was working, that we were getting attacked. I was flight line security that day, so I kinda reared up, thought they were joking. Grabbed the M4 just in case, went into control shack just as the second plane hit. Hurts to this day. Especially this day.

I was going to Greenville Tech at the time. i had just walked out from a biology exam and got into my car and the local radio station i listened to was dead air. finally i switched to another one and they were talking about the attacks. i immediately drove home thinking the rest of classes would be canceled (they were not, school went on as usual). anyway, i got home and turned on the news and by that point the second tower had been hit. i kept watching the replays over and over mouth wide open and eyes like saucers. i couldn't believe i was watching people jump out of a burning building

I was driving past the pentagon in DC. Saw a shadow pass over, heard a massive BOOM and saw/felt the heat and then watched a big parking lot lamp post come sailing in the air and land on a taxi a few cars ahead of me. This was back before I started carrying a fancy pants cell phone with camera, so I never got any pictures and I'm not sure I would have taken any even if I had a camera. Definitely the freakiest thing that's ever happened to me, can't even imagine what the people on the plane felt as they watched the ground coming at them and knowing they were about to die.

I was in the 5th grade, and the princpal came in and said that a plane had hit the wtc, and of course i had no clue what that was, and we started watching it on tv, and we watched as the second plane hit, and we watched as the towers fell. It was a sad day, and i went home and watched the news the whole night with my family, and felt lucky to still have them.

I was sleeping on my parent's couch, recovering from knee surgery, when my brother came down stairs to leave for work. He told me a plane had crashed into the WTC.

I turned on the TV to see the second plane hit. We thought it was a replay, and my brother left for work. It wasn't until after he left that I realized what was happening.

I was working for a local news station at the time, so I called my boss and asked whether I should come in. He said sure, but that it was going to be national coverage for the foreseeable future. I basically lived at the station for the next week, watching Peter Jennings report tirelessly and making graphics for when we would eventually start local coverage again.

I was sitting in the break room at work, second day on a new job. Heard it on the radio, no TV. I wanted to leave, but I was the new guy and no one else left. I knew right away it was a huge deal, world changing, but no one else at work seemed all that concerned. I didn't see the TV footage until I got home at 8 that night. It was worse than I had imagined possible. I still get choked up watching the footage, but I force myself to watch it every year when they replay it. I live about an hour and a half drive from ground zero, but I haven't been able to visit there yet.

I was working for Palmetto Electric Co-op at the time. We were finishing up changing out a transformer when a lady came running out of her house screaming. At first we thought we had done something cause we had the power off for a while. Then one of the guys said she was screaming that a plane had flown into one of the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. We just thought she was crazy till someone flipped on the radio. It was really quiet the rest of the day.
