Fluid Film is by far the best product I have come across to prevent rust. My truck spend 20 years in California and the last year here in Indiana and so far I do not see any signs of rust on the outside or inside of my frame. I coat my frame 2-3 times a year and always before winter. Every time I wash it it gets the inside and outside of the frame rinsed of any debris. Rust scares the hell out of me.

    Remember the letter you got
("Toyota has received reports that certain 2005 through 2008 model year Tacoma vehicles operated in specific cold climate areas with high road salt usage may exhibit more than normal corrosion to the vehicle’s frame. Toyota investigated these reports and determined that the frames in some vehicles may not have corrosion-resistant protection sufficient for use in these areas. This combined with prolonged exposure to road salts and other environmental factors may contribute to the development of more than normal rust in the frame of some vehicles. This condition is unrelated to and separate from normal surface rust which is commonly found on metallic surfaces after some years of usage and/or exposure to the environment.")

My frame was rotted through 9 years 3 months after being delivered into service.
Toyota still has not changed a thing in there manufacturing processes soon the 11-15 will get the same announcement. it is un acceptable in this day in age that Toyota is still producing these frames with the same defect. there is plenty of coatings on the market that could be factory installed that would prevent the corrosive salt water on our roads from getting between the layers of metal (where the metal remains un coated). preventing these frames from rotting from the inside out. the rust starts between these layers. it is near impossible to clean between these layers due to the fact they are tightly fitted. If the lineal edges and stich welded areas were filled with a malleable, paintable or rubberized coating before being dipped in the final coat. these trucks would last a long, long time. but Toyota is cheep and refuses to spend the extra 100 bux in the manufacturing presses. Toyota owners get the shit end of the stick.

my truck was a write off. I wanted a check.
I also wanted to sell my truck in 2015 @ 250000km. but no decent person would sell a truck in that condition. and no person would pay for a truck with a frame in the condition that mine was in.
after the battle I have been through just to get a safe vehicle to drive. I will never say anything good about Toyota. They tried there best to deny, deny but I documented it so well that in my documents they admitted wrong doing, they admitted to a cover up. they broke the law and falsified safety documents.

I inherited my truck on December 2015 so I did not get a letter. Found out about the service campaign a moth after it expired.

Just got off a three-way call with Toyota customer service and my local Toyota Service Manager.
Seems customer service wasn't too pleased when I told them I had to hold my dealers hand and inform them of the frame settlement.
So, for anybody that has or is having a problem with their local dealer, Call Customer Service. They were more than helpful this time and did not hesitate to call the dealer directly to inform them of measures to take.
I go in for full inspection tomorrow morning, 8-3.
Finally. All the time invested and calls and emails and nasty looks I received from techs and reps is going to pay off.

When they tell you your frame is a fail, would you prefer a cheque for the damages (or your trucks value)or a repair on your write off????

Did they give you a number??? because frame replacements cost around $15,000.
How much time have you wasted???
how much anxiety has it given you? you would not be on this forum if it did not actually affect you, give you stress...
knowing you have a truck that might crack in half if you hit a pot hole on the hiway, or explode in a collision, maybe your motor mounts are fucked and you get in a collision and your motor gets smashed into your front seats and the driver looses his legs because the frame Explodes on impact.
These trucks are 10 years old and failing miserably, and would no live up to the standards in which they were collision tested.
Did Toyota try to hide or deny this condition in any way??? I am also assuming you know of this condition because you got under your truck?
Think of how many people own these mid-sized trucks that trust there dealerships word and do not go under there trucks, maybe because they ere not farmilliar with the issue or un educated in mechanics, steel, or maybe they are girls that don't get dirty. This condition was hidden from a lot of people.

to the girls that do get under their trucks/cars:bowdown::headbang:

all I know is Toyota is in for a :crapstorm:

    :canada:
