I can tell you how they are similar... They both come with Wranglers in passenger rating

I think you've got the advice in hand - the TRD trims in my mind are for people like me. I don't have the time to spend researching, installing mods, maintaining my modded gear, etc. Knowing I can get on trails the few times a year I'm able to and having OEM predictability were the factors that made me pick a TRD. And then when I honestly assessed my use cases, the extra OR features lost out over the better road manners of the Sport since 98% of my driving is on pavement. But again very much a personal decision based on highly individual factors. From what you're planning, save the scratch for the expedition build. Just make sure we get to see the pics!!

Also for people who dont want to argue with Toyota service department if you need to get warranty stuff done and they blame your after market stuff. Been there done that.

That's not the way the federal law works about aftermarket items....

But of course. That is the plan. Basically planning on starting the thread as soon as I order/purchase the vehicle. Looking like its going to be a 2017 SR5 at this point.

Most likely something similar to a ICON stage 2, or piece together something comparable using King of Fox parts and aftermarket UCA's.
I'm looking for 2-3in with 275s - 285s (most likely). One can always dream of a TC Long Travel but that will likely be out of the budget. We shall see though.

    What model Tacoma?

    2017 DCSB v6AT SR5 and I'm leaning towards Quicksand.

    Lotsa shit.
if you are going to mod the crap out of it look no further than an SR5. the value of what comes with the SR5 over the SR seems like a no-brainer to me. In the end you are going to mod the thing so much that nobody will even know what it started off as. you are just going to pay more money for the name when you can put that money you saved into another area that you care about more than just nicer seats or something lame like that.

That is what I have come to realize.

As for the seat thing...if I really feel like I need better seats I guess I could always swap to aftermarket, or hell...even TRD, seats at some point down the line.

They still use the needle bearing in their trucks. And once you put a lift on it with even a differential drop that bearing will go bad. They blame the lift every time.

^^^ This. If they can in any way, shape or form draw a correlation to one of your aftermarket modifications for a failed component or issue you can bet your ass they will
