Alright guys the build has finally started. The bilstein lift from toytec comes by Monday. And I ordered the JBA UCA last night, at this point I have found my wheels. I just don’t know which size tire to go with I know I want 33s but there are all these different dimensions. I see a lot of people running 285/75/R16. Can I get some recommendations and or what you guys are running? With some pics

I might be biased but I think 255/85-16s look really good on first gens. They are narrower than 285s by over an inch

My experience is limited to dry rock, snow, and mud and so far have performed admirably aired down to 14psi many times.

I ran Falken Wildpeaks on my Tacoma as you can see by the side by side picture; put the Cooper Maxx on the 4Runner -

I actually chose them because of another member here @eon_blue

Anyway, I did find them just a hair louder than the Falkens, but based on the pattern I expect them to perform better in something like mud.

Couple of pictures trying them in different areas -

Nitto Ridge grappler has been the best tire I've driven so far.

2nd gen. Been running 285/75/16 for about 7 years. Started with BFG KM2s (mud terrains) and probably wouldn't go back. They look and perform badass, but the majority of my driving is on-road and they are extremely noisy. Mud terrains... go figure.
Switched to BFG KO2s (all-terrains) and extremely happy. Put them through some extreme conditions in the Mojave Desert (sand, jagged rocks, dirt, mud) and they perform perfectly. I don't think I've tried snow yet. On-road driving is much better than the mud-terrains. I've put a couple of plugs in them where I snagged a nail, but still hold up incredibly well. Although, I'm not sure if that's a testament to the plugs or the tires...
The shifting drives me nuts and I still rub because I haven't trimmed anything, but I believe that's just a 2nd gen issue that can be remedied by other means.
