Where is this information from? I can't seem to find any official statement on Toyota's website.

That's great to hear. Also, hope this sheds a little light on the subject. I purchased a 2 day license with TIS to flash my ECU to the most current calibration ID in preparation for the vF tuner software. During the 2 day subscription, I checked out a lot of the service manual documents & downloaded some things I thought might be pertinent for future use. While there, I found this attached document. It clearly states that remote start with key fob should still work if customer allows remote services trial to lapse and not renew. What it doesn't address is whether or not canceling all connected & remote services prior to trial period ending will have any effect on the system, which is what I did. I'm going to the dealership in the morning with these documents to see if I can get something figured out. I will report back.

Back from the dealer. The tech could not get remote start with key fob to work. He mentioned the SOS light was completely dark and that meant there is no communication with Toyota. He even performed what he called a "hard reset" of the entire system. His main guy he goes to for these telematics/connected services issues was in a meeting until about noon. I got there at 7am, so I decided not to wait on that guy. I told them that I cancelled all connected services a month or so after I bought the truck and that's when the SOS light was no longer lit. Recommendations made were, opt back into connected services since I'm still under the one year trial period to see if that has any affect on it. So, I got home, pushed the SOS button. It says no connection and gives this number (877-201-0287) to call, which is the connected services number. I called and opted back in and had to consent to all that crap. Then, I was supposed to follow links in the email he sent with authorization code for remote connect to work, which I did not do. Got out of the truck, turned around and remote started the truck with the key fob. I guess Toyota is blocking our ability to start the truck with the key fob if you waive connected services. So, just like other TW members have stated in previous posts, remote connect app or authorizing thru the app has nothing to do with whether or not the key fob will remote start the truck. Waiving Connected Services definitely does!! Also, SOS light is now solidly lit red, but not green. My plan from this point is to just leave it as is and wait for my trial period to end in Feb. 2022 and see if anything changes at that point. Other TW members have said that their key fob still starts the truck after the trial period. I'm attaching a document that I found back in April after I canceled these services. In the bold section under the instructions of how to remote start your vehicle is "Note: Key Fob Remote Start will not function if Connected Services are waived." Also, if you look at the very bottom of the document in the small print "Disclosures" section, #13 says "Key fob requires an active Data Control Module (DCM)." I don't know if they are rendering this inactive or what? I was just hoping the tech at the dealer could reverse whatever happens to the system when you waive the connected services. I guess Toyota has them locked out as well. Anyway, there's my update. Hope it helps. I will report back on this in March 2022. Lol. Sorry for the long post.

Edit: SOS light changed to green after returning to my truck a few hours later.
