    Hey motivator,

Ya I'm a reservist but so what? We still make sacrifices. And we ain't a POG unit. We goto the field every single month and do patrolling, fireteam rushes and all that good trash. And yes, we do hump every month with fullpacks, flaks, and weapons. No, we don't get 8 hours of sleep (HQ company does) in the field. If we're lucky, we get 2 hours. We always get a few former active duty Marines at my unit. The funny part is, they always check in for one drill and then you'll never seen them again. It's different being a reservist. You're used to civilian life and all of a sudden you get back to this Marine mindset and doing the shit in the field.

Ya in my unit, NCOs and SNCOs are buddies. They even hang out when they're off-duty. That can be a very bad thing because they let personal feelings get in the way during Marine time and that's when favoritism kicks in and you'll feel it. Especially if you're a little bitch called Lance Corporal.

Oh yeah, nothing better than getting our asses chewed for ripped cammies and not being clean shaven. This is when we step off the buses coming back from the field. I guess that's what happens when your I&I 1st Sgt was a former D.I.

    /motivated reservist out

Ha its all good bro, not talking shit. You're in a different ball game than POGS, I'm in a different one than you and my buddies who went MARSOC have a different life than me. But facts are facts, and every AD 03 calls reservists boots. You train once a month and im being perfectly sincere when i say thank you for doing your part. But you train 1/30th of the time as the rest of us and that just leads to less experience. The family and personal sacrifices are not comparable. Apples and oranges. No hate intended brother. Just doin what marines do, givin ya a hard time ha

Excuse me Devil Dog, I don't train only once a month. I train constantly with self-PME through Call of Duty. lol. :p

I gotta admit that AD 03s like yourself are definetly more squared away because you guys are full-time motivators and do it every single day.

For reservists, PME is on our own. We are expected to read books, do MCIs, and brush up on knowledge before drill comes around. Same goes for self PT. If you don't PT as a reservist, it'll show during drill weekend in the field. You'll see Marines falling back, falling out, etc.. The term "nasty reservists" is sorta true. There are some fat Marines who can't do pull-ups to save their own lives. Since the Corps. is downsizing, those fat bodies are getting counseled and placed on a weight control plan. If they don't meet it, they will be kicked out. Most of the fat Marines I've seen are in HQ Company. It figures right. hah.

    Kill kill kill em' all!

Well here we are again Im in a HQ co and i run a 300 PFT and CFT being ar the Regiment I see all of the broke ass 03's all the time. being th lagest MOS in the corps there are just as many broke weak ass 03's as any other MOS we have More 300 PFT in HQ co than anywhere I have been.. I know you will say we have time to PT and you dont I know, but you are grunts you are supposed to be bad ass all the time but I dont think the 03 MOS makes you a bad ass one bit. Its how much you want to be a bad ass is what counts.. 01 03 motor t there are bad asses in each mos and fat asses in each.

Let's not turn this into a pissing match now :D hq guy, thanks for doing your part, but going to the range once a year and running a pft mean nothing. You know nothing of warfighting and given a squad and a rifle in afgan you would be lost in more way than one. So, i commend you for out running me, but id like you to get blown up injure joints and carry what we do as well as be a competent combat patrol leader. Shooting in the sitting position and participating in a buddy team rush once don't help much there. If i need to cheat on an MCI tho ill look you up. Again, can't compare apples and oranges.

I ain't complaining i loved my job! :D we had entirely different lifestyles, jobs and responsibilities. Fact: hq guy and reservists train for combat less than regular 03 especially weapons platoon 03. No need to get all crazy dude. I've never once in my life claimed to be a war hero. Ill be the first to admit the second half of my last pump was pertyyy dang slow! Im commenting on different lifestyles and responsibilities. I have no shame in admitting the 03's on deployment with me who got to push south to a hotter area did a whole lot more warfighting than me. It can't be that hard to admit you'd be lost as a PL. its all trivial man, enjoy your tantrum interwebs tough guy baha :D

well last time i checked the reservist never had said that he was harder than you.. he actualy said you were more squared away that reservists are. and as far as the HQ guy comment I could take my ass down to soi and become an 03 in 8 weeks does that make me bad? no.. what i was saying is there are just as many fat overweight 03's as there are any other MOS in the corps. you were the one saying go on a partol and you will be lost more than one way, correct? so yea I dissagree but you can sit in south dakota and be a hard charger from your house, ok

Fact of the matter is, we are all riflemen at heart and by training. From the Commandant on down to the newest Marine at P.I. or Hollywood, we are all part of this gun club.
I was AD 0311. I knew what I was getting into heading into boot camp. Other guys went 01, 02, 04, etc. They all earned the same title as me, and they are all my brothers (or sisters, not to be sexist). Messing with computers/tracking payroll/doing admin shit is not my thing. I'm much better suited to patrolling, shooting things, and making weapons go bang and boom. There are thousands of others who opted not to do that job for whatever reason. There are lots of folks who have stood up and were/are doing their part to keep my pay/weapons/radios/transportation squared away so when I needed that particular asset, it was ready to rock and roll.

In short, everyone STFU and go to the smoke pit to cool off.

Word. Sorry man haha i should know trying to explain yourself on the internet will only make things worse... my bad :D I've always respected everyone for what they do! I just don't see anything wrong with stating facts about different lifestyles. And no, one could most definitely not go to soi for a few weeks and know what's up. Takes at least a work up and a deployment for the experience.

To everyone who has served i salute you whole heartedly for doing your part when so many in this country keep taking and never contribute. To the Marines, you're all my brother! I am more proud of what we share than most accomplishments in this short life of vanities. But to my fellow 03's who have shared a common sacrifice, you know, i don't need to say more.

    Goodnight duders

You guys are all wrong, being in the Airwing and running a 220 PFT is the hardest/toughest job in the USMC...but seriously, enough bickering. CoalMedic said it best, he sounds like a smart guy. Semper Fi brothers.
