Retired in January after 20+ yrs in the USAF. Sure do miss it...not one single day of regret.

But damn, I love this retired life getting paid $$$ at 41 yrs of age. For those of you still unsure about sticking it out 20, do it! If you play it smart and take advantage of TSP, saving and properly investing, you can sit back and enjoy life when you are still very young. Work hard--play hard.

Thanks to all of you still serving... God bless you for what you do!

Best of luck. Just remember it's all a head game. Don't let them (MTIs) get too you, keep your head low, do what you have to do and get through it.

It will seem like its taking forever but will pass in the blink of an eye. Again, best of luck and thanks for volunteering to serve your nation!

Just finished packing for BMT. Head to Shreveport, Louisiana tomorrow, and by the end of Tuesday I'll be in the San Antonio heat getting yelled at by some MTI for the first day of my eight and a half weeks of training. Woohoo.... Haha

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
i would have liked the added "field" time. when i went through in 01 (was 3rd week during 9/11), we only had the one week. i heard they added more "field" time to further what more AF folks were doing in Iraq and Afghan. I have a buddy that was an E-6 w/ 17 years and got sent to Iraq w/ the Army to be a turret gunner on convoys for 15 months. sucked to be him.

Any branch would make for a good choice; and this country would be grateful for your service.
But the Navy and the Air Force have the best schools; which translates to better employment chances when you get out
