thats an assbackwards thing to say....doesnt matter of age or TIS, its about respect to the rank, not necessarily the person. there are douches that i salute and there is an e-9 w/ almost 40 years in that salutes a butterbar.

however the E-9s dont always do it. for example when they are chewing some butter bars ass for screwing up. i've seen many a Lt get yoked up by a SMAJ. Hell I've even seen E-8s chew their asses.

Calm down buddy. I wasn't serious. I know how the game is played. But I'll be damned if I let a boot LT tell me how to do my job. Once they pick up Captain then its a whole other story.

woot, parents are actually kind of saying that they support me joining the military. whenever i first told them i wanted to join, instant NO.

now both my parents at least are easing up on me joining.

mom said ok as long as i dont join infantry
dad says to think about the reasons i want to join, and to be sure of it...and if i really want to join the Corps. I think he'd rather see me in another branch. He works with a LOT of military people (mainly O-5's and up) and most of them are Army, Air Force, and Navy, so I guess he'd rather have a hand on what his son might use.

    Irony: I wanna be either a 03xx or 1371.

If you have bad knees now, joining the infantry or recon is ONLY going to make them worse. Especially, if you go airborne! Just something to think about.

Just MHO, pick an MOS that can easily be translated to the civilian side. That way if you're not doing 20 yrs, you have something to fall back on. For example, engineer, electrian, computer support, ect...

This is the best information you can give someone who is unsure whether they want to make a career out of it or not. For those who think they do, give yourself 4 years and then see how ya feel.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd go with Combat Engineer over Infantry. Reasons being are if you're assigned with an Infantry division you'll be in the shit with the 03s, but you also get to blow shit up with C4 and whatnot.

And who doesn't love blowing shit up?!

Yeah we loved our engineers. we would have one per platoon. But my vc was a prior engineer so we blew everything up whenever we wanted and i mean EVERYTHING!
