I'm purchasing a plate bumper, but can't decide to get just a plate bumper, or to add a center hoop on top of it.

    I'd go with the hoop/stinger.

I think it looks better without the hoop, but if you're plannning on adding offroad lights, the center hoop would be useful

I went with a hoop. But the clean look does look great. But if your getting lights, get the hoop.

I am also more of a fan of Tims works on 1st gen bumpers..but thats just me..

Yes Eric (Relentless Fabrications) makes some nice bumpers and sliders. And they look even better in person. His (pictured) is made for a 3" body lift the regular ones fit even better. Hoop it for off road lights.

I can see the many extra uses of hoop would be a perk but I like the look a little better without. Cleaner and with a little fabrication skill you can put a winch and lights on any bumper almost

I didn't vote because I couldn't decide. I think w/out is sleeker, aggressive but sleek. With the hoop is beefy and mean. I think if it were me and my uses (not much offroad), I would go w/out because I think too aggressive looks overkill and absurd. But if you take it where the bar is likely to meet limbs rocks and the like, or if you plan to mount lighting or something like it, then I would go that route. I guess the point is I would go w/ if you need it's utility.

I vote hoop! I'll be getting 1 on my custom bumper. It'll add protection to the front and help protect light if you mount them in front of the grill

Definitely go with the hoop. A lot more functional protection (deer) and mounting points.

As long as it ISN'T one of those big a$$ "stingers" that are 4 feet tall and slanted out at a 45* angle!

That's a pretty fat hoop. It'd be nice to see it from a different angle.
