YES, I searched but the threads I found on the subject are all 4-8years old, figured something newer or better might be out since then. I also read Toyota OEM clutch kit's changed something(true or not?). From what I read it seems the Marlin 1600lb clutch or an ACT brand clutch is recommended. I don't do any off-roading just drive the truck to and from work everyday most highway/ 45+mph cruising. If not a Marlin or ACT what do you recommend?

My clutch isn't bad but my throwing bearing is ridiculously annoying with the squeaking. Are there certain Throwout bearing's I could buy separately that are better than the ones that come with either mentioned clutch kits? TIA

And don't go with Centerforce either....garbage. I can't wait until mine dies and get it out of there.

I've used Centerforce clutch and they were great so I'm curious to know what problems you have as it'd be my first choice now.

I had one in my 86 and loved it so when Toyota warrantied my tranny on my 98 I had them change out the clutch to the Centerforce and on the street and with the S/C I have no problems.
However, the first time I took it into the rocks in 4Lo I slipped into a hole in the rocks to where I had to turn to get out. The clutch slipped repeatedly trying to get the power to the ground. I never had that problem with the 86 clutch and after researching I found out (this was a # of years ago so it may be different now) that the diaphragm pressure plate spring pressure was reduced compared to the 86 to ease pedal effort, hence the slip. I remember reading on TTORA back then that others were having the same issue on their 1st gens. as well.

Like I said, it may be different now but I still get slippage in that 4Lo situation if I'm not careful and the smell of burnt clutch is not fun.

The Center Force clutch I put in my '78 Toyota had 2 diaphragm springs, it never slipped but the pedal effort was high and I had to re-attach the pedal bracket to the firewall with pop rivets after it started to come off. The one I had in my '82 F250 had one spring and didn't slip. They both had the centrifugal weights. Looks like the problem might be with one designed for reduced pedal effort.

I have a Luk Clutch which will no doubt last as long as no Students to a clutch ever drive the Truck

    75,000 miles now

My next Toyota that needs a clutch is going to be a Marlin

I added a poll, figure there's those out there that don't want to bother with a response but might vote. Anyone know why the 1600lb Marlin clutch isn't available for my 2003? Just the earlier generations

My OEM clutch is still going strong at 205,000 miles.

I figure when the time comes to replace it, I'll go with OEM again.
