I believe they're referring to single-stage paint which doesn't feature a traditional clear coat on top because it is mixed in.

You apparently know nothing about paint.
OP, the white does not have clearcoat, it is mixed in with the paint coat. Why? The consensus is because of plastic and metal yellowing over time.

Is mixing in the clear coat with the paint as good as a 2nd application of clear coat? Or is it worse to the point where you wouldn’t even consider it

You mean ceramic like coatings. True ceramic coating does not need to be done quarterly. And yes if you take care of your white paint it will be just fine. Nice truck!!

"Real" is a little subjective IMO. The product contains ceramic and is a coating. But I understand what you're saying.

Thanks man! And yes I'm using a "spray-on" ceramic coating. Definitely nowhere near as good as a true ceramic treatment but it's cheap, it works, and I enjoy adding it to my wash routine.

Yep. It’s all about good consistent care of your vehicle.

I wouldn't listen to this dealer. Cement is a mettalic and is clear coated.

I thought dealers were the most knowledgeable, honest people in the automotive industry. If you can't trust a dealer, who can you trust?

Lol, that reminds me of a story.

    We were shopping for a vehicle for my wife. Test drove a Range Rover that mama actually liked. Asked the attractive young saleswoman what the powertrain warranty was. Her reply (no joke);

"Um, I'll have to ask. I don't know what a powertrain is"

We didn't buy a Range Rover!

Seems like there’s a general consensus that white is single stage. Cement on the other hand...there doesn’t seem to be a consensus online about it. Is there any reference you have to point you towards this answer?

Two dealers so far have said cement is single stage, but I, like you, do not trust them.

Well, a multistage paint correction on my previous truck (an '18 Cement OR) is enough for me to definitely tell you that it was NOT a single stage.

It is also a metallic. So the one dealer was contradicting herself.

Single stage white is so easy to repair and make look good again.

When I bought my truck it was so oxidized it looked like paper. I washed it good, cleaned off the rusted scratched areas, primed them and touched them up. Then I wet sanded the new paint and used polishing compound on the truck and its shiny again and you cant tell where there were scratches and rust.

Saying clear coat is mixed in is about the silliest thing I've heard it described as.

The difference is single stage paint is glossy paint, two stage is flat paint covered with clear glossy paint. The composition is different but clear is not "mixed in".

Awesome answer. I think this answer sums everything up perfectly among all the forums I’ve been to. You describe the pros and cons pretty well:

the only cause for concern at the end of the day would be the paint thickness then. There are many reports of paint thickness on the white ones being less than the other colors (3.5mils vs 4.5-5 mils)

This is what the paint on my Cement truck looks like in pure sunlight.

Yep, it's metallic like @adhumston mentioned above. Most people don't realize it.
