I worked on a E85 tune a while back and it was easily done just with tuning. There is plenty of injector and fuel pump to run e85 from the factory.
It won't be flex fuel so you will have to set it up to run e85 and keep it that way or have a way to flash it at the fuel pumps if you need to use e10.
I have a nGauge so I can switch between tunes quite easily so the issue of flashing it was not a problem if I was low on fuel and had to go back to E10 93 or even 87 octane.
I can tell you there is a lot of torque available with a good E85 tune. My truck picked up a good bit of power.
I ran probably 4 tanks through it before I went back to 93 because I was putting the truck up for a few months.
The biggest draw back for me was that I used it during winter and it does not start up as quickly as e10.
Look into the Camry forums as there are some of them running E85.

Corn fits better in the tailpipe. Stick a few ears in there, reverse polarity at the starter motor, crank the engine and they'll get sucked right in

Corn should feed people, and livestock not vehicles. Btw potatoes work great also for sticking in a tailpipe.

    ...and whiskey.

Fun fact: there's at least 8x the amount of denaturant in E85 vs E10 by volume.

Ethanol for gas blending is required to have at least 2% denaturant. E85 has 8x the ethanol.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
My wife has an Escape designed by the factory engineers to run E85 or regular unleaded. With unleaded she get's around 28 to 29 MPG. With E85 she will get 17 to 18 MPG. A ton more power and torque, but massively worse mileage. So with the fact that E85 for some reason also went up in price when gasoline went up, there is a loss of dollars to use the E85 for her.

You kinda hit the nail on the head, squarely.

I fully suspect this planned and stupid E15 endeavor to not affect fuel prices at all, or possibly drive them up.

I say do it. Probably pick up some nice gains with an E85 tune over a 93 tune.

That's because the manufacturer tune for e85 is horrible. My CTS-V I tuned exclusively for e85 lost 1.5mpg in the city.

That's because the stock tunes seem to be pretty knock happy constantly pulling timing. E85 stops all that knock. No more timing pull. Also cools intake charge and helps everything just run a lot cooler.

Just to throw a wrench in this conversation…

Brazil is 27% alcohol by volume.

    - Why not have states use more alcohol by volume where they have less temperature fluctuations.
    - Obviously the computer would need to be tuning - but im pretty sure its based on knock sensors and retarding or advancing timing.

if OP wants to do it he probably could make a mint on creating the tuning. Friends of mine did this for VW 1.8t and megasquirt.

now you can buy a tune and wiring harness/injectors

I think with e85 your getting over 30% less energy per gal. vs non ethanol gasoline, so your fuel consumption would be more.
