Im calling you out here, what's your take on the various lense combinations?
What would you do if this was your truck & youre just trying to optimize best lighting combination possible for street?
Running yellow s2's, but would you do the driving combo lense, or straight w/c lense on all 4?
Not terribly worried about on-coming, I can manage that...
Also the s1, going clear, w/c the way they came, or switch to spot?

Only reason im mind fucking myself, last thing I want to do is pull bumper back off & lights out to swap lenses, dont get the option of trial & error...
try this, try that, isn't an option, too much work for that...
    Set-it & forget it..

So got a message / pm from Brahian as my question / concern was too much to discuss via typing....
    Too many variables...
He called, we talked & talked, discussed multiple scenarios & options...
    He was a great help!
Here's where im at, once the lower 4 s2's are installed you dont have the luxury of swapping out various lenses without removing the front clip & removing the lights again...
Anyways, I think I feel more comfortable with the route im going to take...

One set back was I was waiting for another 2 amber combo driving lenses, they were ordered but on back order for 2 weeks...
Well brahians postition involves in-field work, gets dirty with real trucks, desert trips, etc...
dont recall what his position is, but he was able to dip into his own resources & had lenses in his pocket...
Day later, theyre at my door with a hat....
Thank you sir, it was a pleasure chatting....

@slater so what was the set up for your question "What would you do if this was your truck & youre just trying to optimize best lighting combination possible for street?" What are you doing in the fog position and what are you doing in the "fang" position?

    page 4, post 61 & 63 fangs....
    post 62, factory fogs...
doing clear spot lense for "fang" position....
will most likely say fuck-it & go all in & do the amber driving combo lense for the fog location, which is combination wide cornering lense & spot....
The lense combination & clear vs yellow is endless...
can do all cornering, combo driving light which is corning & spot, all spot, etc...

I dont do well with options....:annoyed:

I don’t either that’s why I wanted you to decide. I drive a lot in two lane county roads at night so I want basically what you were asking. Best nighttime driving. Don’t care about off road or oncoming traffic.

Im going to do spots in the s1 vent location, they come with wide cornering & you can swap lenses.
They will give you lenses depending on what you ordered, what they came with, & what you plan on running...
Im going to do the combo lense in the fog locations so I have wide cornering & spots.

wide cornering vs spot, 90 feet projection vs 140 ft...
but spot will be more intense.
The s1 kit, you can swap lenses after the install so you can easily charge if spots are too much...

Swapped the wide cornering clear lenses for the spots.
Please don’t come assembled, so had to install the brackets and all the mounting tabs on the backside….IMG_8908.jpg

That’s the look that they’re going for, doesn’t necessarily have to look shiny just like factory,
are you a clown on a regular basis?
    I know, I know, I Don’t even have a real truck because it’s not four-wheel-drive…
    What else do you got?
It’s actually textured, and is more in line with a color of off-road fender flare finish per say…
    The bumper, etc…
Didn’t know it takes shiny plastic to make things cool…
Your true colors are obvious, you’re a clown, once again, as I said from the get-go act, your age, not your shoe size…

end of the day you want to attempt to treat me like a POS because I was calling you out about wanting to turn a truck into a race car, I can take whatever you fucking dish out…

You made it very clear via PM that I bought a POS Westcott lift which was just a hunk of metal,
    I should’ve bought a cool lift just like you…
Oh, and I’m an idiot for buying the first lift available…

I never said anything bad about your lift, just saying…

Think you took that a lil too personally.. Wasn’t directed at you.. I meant all the vent lights, the strips and the pods in the vents.

As for the PM.. You PM’ed me first and started the discussion. You asked me a question, I’m gonna give it to you straight… You want me to sugar coat answers for you?

I’m just a clean truck guy. If I was to add lights it’d be a pro grill with a Baja or ridgid light bar.

I did PM you, figured we could have a civil conversation, guess not…
I know exactly what you’re referring to, trying to get people on your bandwagon, wanting them to agree with you in regards to the dull finish on the vents…
    I’m far from dense….
zero interest in a pro grill, or light bar…
    Or a larger turbo, or a tune…
Here you go, maybe you can get everybody else to also agree with you that the powder coat is an up to your standards….IMG_8920.jpg IMG_8918.jpg IMG_8919.jpg

Powder coat looks fine. I’ve had a few sets of Baja sport squads.. They’ll fade especially in Texas heat. They work fucking amazing tho.

I’ve got Baja Designs amber SAE S2s coming in on Saturday, and could definitely have used them last month in some crazy fog in eastern Washington.

I really liked their SAE amber fogs in my 2015 Tacoma

    beyond stoked!!!!
Baja Designs was top notch to deal with & treated me well through this process, the entire team was great to deal with…
Im sure I need to make some minor adjustments / fine tune the light position..
Light quality & performance phenomenal, these little lights project some serious lighting for what they are...
The s1 vent kit with the clear spot lense, those lights seem brighter than my headlights...

Most important to me, when the lights are off, you dont see an orange reflector as you do with the diode dynamics that everyone here recommended...

I've been trying to find some ambition to start my auxiliary light install... but the rain and 40 degree weather have been holding me back.

I went with a mount from SDHQ and a set of the Baja Designs Squadron Sport in their amber wide cornering lenses. https://sdhqoffroad.com/products/2024-toyota-tacoma-bumper-light-mount?_pos=6&_fid=ed9d21804&_ss=c

I'm only going to put in the one pair of lights for now (the mount fits three pairs), but I may add additional lights in the future. The mounts appear very well made and were packaged nicely. My only concern is that it requires permanently removing the grill shudders. I haven't seen anyone do that yet so I'm not sure how much of an effect it will have on fuel economy.

That light config & being behind the grill looks bad-ass but ide be concerned about blocking too much airflow across the radiator....
Had to put a customer pay engine in a f150 raptor cuz a customer did a kind of similar thing but blocked airflow across the charge air cooler, he melted pistons.....

But I understand the ambition deal, I just sacked-up & ordered some from Amazon....
Hardest part is carefully getting the upper hard to reach tabs to pop on the fender flares, & popping the end of the front clip where they get inserted into the edge of the fenders....
I did this for a living through, ive replaced thousands of radiators & active grill shutters where entire front facias had to come off....

That's good advice. I'll likely never add more than the one pair of lights in the bumper. I considered just replacing the factory fog lights but I have a long commute and feel bad in traffic with the extra bright lights turned on. This way I can run the factory fogs for the daily commute and the Squadrons for backroads and FS roads at night.

Yeah I've worked on and modified a lot of trucks but I've never had to pull an entire front facia before.

I did not use the factory toyota wiring plug on my 4 yellow fogs, theyre wired to my auxbeam switch so I can totally control them....

Factory operation, you turn hi-beams on, the fogs shut off, I no-longer have that issue....
