I like the feel of an s&w mp. To me the glock feels ergonomically shitty compared to an equivalent sized M&P.

Love my Glock 19. Perfect size. I also have a 21 and it feels big compared to the 19 with no added comfort. But if your gunna go 45 get the bigger frame so you can carry more ammo...

Why are people trying to talk him out of a Glock? Honestly, the Glock 19 is quite possible the finest do-it-all firearm in existence. I have ever gun mentioned so far in this thread and many more and w/o hesitation if a tractor trailer backed up to my garage today and required that I turn over every firearm I owned and could retain only one it would w/o a doubt be one of my Glock 19's. Period. It does everything well. It's concealable. It's large enough to handle comfortably for days on end in classes & courses w/o issue. It's one of if not the most reliable firearm in existence. It fires softer than it's smaller brothers and yet the recoil pulse it's that much more noticeable than it's larger siblings. Should you need to to work on it (you won't) a caveman can disassemble, service and reassemble the thing. Parts, both OEM or aftermarket, are available literally everywhere. This includes holsters, magazines and other parts you'll need to actually use the thing. All of these OEM and aftermarket parts are not only readily available and simple to replace but due to availability and competition they're also cheaper than the exact same part for other firearms. They won't win any beauty contests but who cares? Sure you should add other firearms to your collection and as time goes on you will want something pretty to show buddies and chicks. Until then, get a Glock and rest easy knowing you can trust your life to it any time it's called upon. They're cheap, ultra reliable, lightweight for carry and go Bang! every time you pull the trigger w/o fail. The guy is asking about owning a single firearm so to me the answer is simple: Glock 19

I don't think anyone was trying to talk him out of a Glock, just letting him know there are other options and he needs to go with what he shoots/likes best.

For me, I'll never own a Glock. Not because of quality, but the weapon doesn't feel right in my hand. Everyone is different.

I'm a HUGE fan of Hk and have owned 4 different models, but I found that I shoot a Kimber .45, far better.

I carry a G19 in a alien gear holster. And IDPA with a G34. Best of luck with your choice

Glock 19 gets my vote. To me they're comfortable to carry IWB, doesn't take up a lot of room in the glove box, and they have been solid, reliable pistols.

    I like my glock.
I would love it, if it had a "real" safety.

I'm not a Glock guy as they simply don't feel right in my hand (as others have mentioned). But I'm not going to badmouth them as they are fine firearms. Of the 3 you mentioned OP, the 19 gets my vote for all of the above.

I have owned most of the guns mentioned. If I had to pick only one to keep it would be the 6 inch Ruger .357. At the end of the world it can fire most anything...38 spl for zombies and 357 Winchester Silver Tips for vampires.

    You know...because Internet opinions bro

Glocks suck blah blah buy this or this is better

I only disagree with which model for the OP...bc 17 if no conceal carry is occuring...otherwise 19 is the best option...unless OP has long gangly fingers for the fat 21 frame

I've shot many different handguns and I know guns are like cars to each his own. I'm asking specifically between those Glock models like I said it was in my budget as a police trade in and I like Glocks  (among other brands)
