I got a tom tom for xmas & used it once but it mainly stays in its case
i'm a land nav fanatic & maps are my fave
If I'm heading to a new place, I usually will use mapquest or google maps prior to the trip.

Garmin. Have a 765T myself. Also, when it comes to a GPS the routing logic is the most important thing. If you look at the head to heads compares in routing the Garmin and Magellan pretty much always beat the TomTom in this.

Verizon's VZ Navigator on my cell phone.

I tried the free trial for a month and liked it. Since I don't need a GPS that often I do the cost-per-use which is $3.50 for a 24hr period. It's always updated and I can go online, chart my destination and download it to my phone. I can't justify doing the monthly VZ Nav subscription ($10) or purchasing a GPS with its initial cost and then the $60-$80 map updates... it works for me.

    In my sig
Garmin in both vehicles. Garmin on quad. Garmin while mountain biking or hiking. Garmin while running. Garmin, Garmin, Garmin:D

As far as the nuvi's or streetpilots, get something that says the actual street name. It's well worth the extra price IMO.

I know Kenwood DD units use garmin maps but I was unaware of Pioneer using them.

I have the Garmin 265w, its pretty sweet comes with free lifetime traffic, also has a mode where it shows like a breadcrumb of where you went(works great for off-roading).

    just a couple comfort items.
Garmin 276 has served me well. however Sometime This year I think I'm going the net book route. I would like to get all my maps, manuals and ham repeater info in one place. Plus I can work with photos, have music even a movie or two.

I use a TomTom XL340S and like it a lot. Its my first GPS so I don't have much experience with too many others. My folks have a Magellan and I hate it. The menu doesn't seem intuitive to me.
