If you did the retrofit yourself, you could do it for $500 if you source your parts correctly. This is what I paid when I did mine last year. You don't need to pay upwards of $900 if you do the work yourself.

RX-350 projectors clear lens and tuned for $230 off eBay
Relay, butyl, pry tool, headlight splitters, 35W D2S Morimoto ballasts and D2S XB HID bulbs - $220 from The Retrofit Source

agreed - and why I wrote in my first post "unless you source used parts and perform the housing opening and retrofit yourself"

opening housings themselves isnt for the faint, especially with the OEM permaseal that is a PITA - if I was to do it again, I'd pay a professional but that is just based on the permaseal experience

did plurpimpin say anything about LEDs (or the OP for that matter)?

there is a "proper" way to do HIDs, and the budget number of my post was clearly in that context. But sure, pick only part of one sentence out of an entire post to make your argument is your prerogative - but makes you look illiterate (read the whole thing)

Whatever...Sorry to derail your post OP.
Moving on, good luck with your search, lots of good info on this forum to find what works for you
Check out those threads, hope you found them helpful. If not, no worries

    I'm out

I didn't mention LEDs because I don't have any experience with them and didn't want to be talking out of my ass.

I've never used a drop in HID kit, but going based on @crashnburn80 extensive thread and the science of how headlights are engineered; an HID projector will be better than any drop in HID kit to a halogen projector. Using the justification of being flashed or not doesn't prove your lights aren't blinding others.
You could easily do a basic RX-350 projector swap for $200 or under if you didn't want the clear lens or tune.

But I guess in life there's those who want to do things the right way and those who would rather half-ass it. :cookiemonster:

There was nothing condescending about my comments, they were all facts, including the disclaimer that "I've never used a drop in HID kit". I never implied my knowledge was superior to yours as I properly credited my source to Crash and halogen headlight engineering. There may have been a slight patronization in the post, but definitely nothing condescending.

Your post is just riddled with improper punctuation, capitalization, run on sentences and missing adverbs. You'll never be as good as me.

Do an RX350 retro-fit kit (I have the morimotos) and aim them properly or don’t bother. It’s embarrassing when people do HID drop in kits. Amateur hour. Choose the hard right over the easy wrong. Any other response is wrong. Period.

I’ve ran the xenon depot kit with the Phillips rebased for the last 18 months. Followed the aiming guide I found on here and have been flashed zero times with phenomenal light output. My 21 ram factory led gets flashed almost every day. I have very little uplight and have had other people drive so I can see it from the oncoming perspective with zero issue. While I respect crashnburn80 and all the work he has done everyone has to make their own decisions and after the last 18 months I would make the exact same one again and save between 500-800 on headlights. 1/2 the complaining probably run the dd ss3 fogs that produce insane amounts of glare so take it with a grain of salt. Is the retrofit the “proper” way to do it, yes. Is it a “must” no.

Just because you're running an OEM set up doesn't mean you're not blinding people. Aiming them properly is the other part of the equation.
