Yeah rust is no fun. I have a 2003 that had low miles when I got it, and not too much rust, but I under coated it and got rid of the rust inside the frame as well. I think that you should get a newer truck with lower miles.

I would keep shopping around. Neither of those seem like a good enough deal to jump on.

My 96 has 225k miles hasn't needed any major service I just do oil changes and fluid exchanges. The frame only rusts on the back half where it goes to a c frame, so if that doesn't have any holes yet then I wouldn't worry about it just make sure to keep it clean don't let dirt and sand sit in there. Other than that the truck will last you a lifetime

That frame doesn't have hardly any rust on it considering what other tacomas like it have

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I ended up going for the 2007. I brought it to a Toyota dealer for a pre purchase inspection and they said that even though it's okay to drive around right now, they're going to replace the frame. I like the bigger size and that it's a 4 door. Also has power windows, locks, and mirrors which is a nice bonus. A locking rear differential is a nice bonus too.

Nice buy. Before i bought my 15 i looked for an access cab with the 4.0 and a stick, every truck i could find was sold before i could look at it. I think you'll be happy.
