I see all different batteries CCA listed for my truck

    890/725

    700/600

    650/535

so which is the correct replacement?

I don't want a weaker battery then it should have but the charts say any of these batteries will work and I don't like to see such a wide range.

batteries aint cheap no more so I want to buy what it needs not what fits

currently right now it has a 890/725 Duracell battery in it but that doesn't mean that's what is supposed to be in it

Personally I always buy the highest cca battery I can physically fit in my vehicles. I'd rather be over juiced than left stranded. It came in handy this year when we hit -30°F

I go big too reguardless of temp. You'll be fine with any of them though especially with you being down south where you are. I know this doesn't help with your question of what exactly the truck came with but something like CCA specifics are really not necessary... i figure temp and budget are the real factors here.

I think at positive 30 you don't have much to work about with CCA. 1, it's a measure of cold weather performance ("tested" at 0F) and you're safely away from Arctic temps. 2, in the tests that I've seen battery companies are terrible at report these things. So...It's a bit of a crap shoot no matter what.

If i were you, i wouldn't cheap out on a battery, but dont let CCA on their own dictate your purchase either. That ability in a battery won't affect you much.

I pretty much agree with you guys so I decided to go with the closest to the 890/725 that was in it but I wanted to "know" if that was bigger then stock or the same

im thinking its bigger, but by how much I wonder?

For what it is worth I always go with the highest output battery I can.

If the tacoma comes with a Toyota truestart battery originally, the specs should be found here.

It's a little lower on the CCA than I expected. No harm in going above the original spec'ed CCA rating though. Prolly more important than the CCAs is the quality of the battery. I can't remember who makes the truestart for Toyota. Is it Johnson Controls? Or is it Interstate? I can't memba.

I'd be very supprised if your truck came with a 24F from the factory. Most 1st gens came with a group 35.

thanks, so if your info is correct, then the oem batteries were originally the 650/535 based on the group 35 battery specs

that's what I wanted to know, its good to know how much over the oem specs things are when you change parts

now I just got to start reprogramming all my radio stations and I forgot to write them down before I pulled the battery lol :frusty:
