So I just bought a brand new 2017 Tacoma in December (first one ever) and I love it. I'm pretty new to all this stuff but I want to get it lifted and am having trouble deciding on which lift and what not. I've looked around on here but it seemed like there wasn't a ton of information for new vehicles. Just wondering if anyone has experience with the Toytec Boss Suspension lift or the OME suspension lift kit? Or if you would recommend something else. Just looking for some help finding a direction to go on this. Thanks for everything!

I have the toytec coilover with a Silver Spring. It is stiffer than s***, if I had to do over I would not buy the setup
I have never disconnected the sway bar and driven without it so I cannot comment on if it drives much differently

So I guess the reason I was looking at OME or Toytec was because they seem quite a bit cheaper than the others. What exactly makes Icon or Fox or King so much better/expensive?

It's like anything else. You have cheap, good and best. Spacer/block lifts take up the "cheap" spot. OME, Bilstein 5100s and Toytec all fall in the "good" category. King Fox Icon are the "best".

With a very broad stroke the better options provide a better ride, both on and off road. As far as how much better? Well, that's subjective at best. In general this is what I've garnered from opinions of people on here that have gone the various routes.

Cheap: most say same as stock
Good: stiffer than stock but still a decent ride. some like it more than stock, some don't
Best: better than stock across the board

What's your budget, and what is the goal of the lift?

I'm running Full OME Suspension 887 Coils in the front with Nitrocharger Shocks all around and Dakar Leafs in the Back also have a set of firestone ride rite air bags on it too! I also did light racing upper control arms from @HeadStrong Off-Road. Bought the lift off of a group buy @ramonortiz55 had and the kit thru @Low Range Off-Road. Love the ride and its nice to put weight in the bed and it not sag at all!!!!

I'd recommend searching before spending money. Plus, all your questions have already been answered before you even thought of them.

There is a sticky on the top of the 3rd gen section, and a thread titled lifted 3rd gens.

As far as I know there hasn't been any revolutionary new suspension systems that have recently been released.

I would say $2000-$2500 for the lift. I go off-road but this is also my daily driver. Just want some more clearance and to be able to go on some trails and off-road for hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, that kinda thing.

Just lift? Separate budget for wheels tires install? I'm sure if you offer beer and pizza locals would help install may save some coin.

Yeah I would say that's my max just for the lift. Don't quite know for sure yet until I get my tax return but somewhere in that ball park. That's kinda what I was planning on though haha bribe some friends

Gotcha, I've got the Toytech Boss 2.0 kit going on in a few weeks and can report back then.

You could always go with Toytecs 2.5 lift kit. With UCAs your at about $2500. Another option is Bilstein 6112 and 5160 combo with Dakars...that's in the 2k range as well.

And you shouldn't, especially on a new truck. Sure better articulation, but as proven (whom will not be named) sway bars actually work. Any offroading that requires you to jack out the sway bar is probably a situation you shouldn't be in a $35k truck.

So what is the General consensus on what lift keeps the ride closest to the stock ride?
