I have researched many threads on this forum in the past 10 years with much success. I recently purchased my 2nd Tacoma (2015 trd off road 4x4) and I would like to do a 3in lift, but I'm not at all familiar with all the different types of lifts these days. I was hoping to get some feedback to see what options are out there. Thanks in advance!

Bilstein 5100 adjustable front shocks low setting with OME 884's, Bilstein 5100 rear shocks with OME leaf packs, Snugtop Camper Shell, CBI Moab 2.0 w/ grill guard, Warn VR8 Winch, Yakima Roof Basket with optional Skybox, 17"x 9" Pro Comp Wheels, 275 GY Wrangler A/T's, Cobra CB with Firestik Antenna, Rago Antenna Mount, ARB Awning, Custom Rear Bumper, extended tow mirrors, URD Short Throw Shifter Kit, AJT Designs Climate Knobs/FOB, Custom Sliders COMING SOON!
Most people start off with the Bilstein 5100 series shocks up front with an upgraded spring (although you can stay on the stock springs) and some sort of AAL in the rear. I'm on the 5100s with OME 884 Springs and an OME AAL in the rear. Just under 3" of lift and I haven't had any issues with my caster. I did throw a carrier bearing drop to lower the diff which helped with the shake (for me personally).

Truck looks good without it though!

Budget and what do you intend to use the truck for?

You could do anything from a cheap spacer lift to a LT setup so we are going to need more info if you want meaningful replies.

Do not do the cheap spacer lift, which is spacers over the front shocks and blocks in the rear. That was the first lift I had on my truck and I took it off after 6 months of it being on. Horrible ride quality.

I'm turning over my 99 Taco to my son and looking to pick up a clean 2nd gen. Surprised there isn't more lifted pics. I think I need to do more searching. Had all OME on my 1st Gen.

If I were to do it all over again I would skip the introductory spacers, skip the 5100s + OME coils, and go straight for Dobinsons.

I've got 5100s Front set at 0, 1/4 driver side spacer for taco lean, 5100 Rears, OME 885, and 1.5" Rear Block. Probably will swap to a new leaf setup at some point, but for now, it does the job fine. After leveling out, got close to 2.5" or so from it. Upgraded tires to 275/70/17 and got a little more lift from that too.

Before and directly after shot of the lift

I have leaf springs/and rear struts sitting on my front porch, delivered today, and coils/front struts will arrive next week. I will hopefully be able to answer that question after next weekend.

Mike from Dobinsons posts on this forum, and I can say he was great to deal with.

Just noticed your in Nashville. If your gen 1 needs a new set of tires before turning over to your son, holla at me! lol I've got a set of Michelin ltx at2 that I'm needing to sell that I just took off my truck. Only 3000 miles on them.

Loved the tire, just looked a little off with the lift. Decided to go larger and aggressive.
