If I suspected a problem then I would take it to another shop to get a printout but there's not one so I'll wait until it needs alignment again to worry about it.

Alot of shops do that. They will tell you they "got it in spec.", but not tell you that it was at the extreme ends of "spec.". Another thing is....many folks dont realize how poorly their vehicle is driving until after they install new UCA's. Look at the threads in which folks install them after the lift, and they state how much better it drives. Over 2" of lift, the alignment techs have to push the camber out near 1* to be able to get the min required caster. So....most of the front weight of the truck is now riding on the edges of the tires. On top of that, with 1* of Caster, the truck will have twitchy behavior.....let alone the front tires wearing on the outside at a faster rate. 10k miles isnt enough to see with the eye, but if you throw a tread gauge on the tires, you will see a 2/32" difference......and sometimes more.

Thanks for the info, I will definitely keep a close eye on it. I have been on here awhile & I do trust the opinion & experience that a lot of you on here have. I paid very close attn when I first installed the lift & have done A LOT of highway driving since, without noticing any wandering or twitchyness as of yet.

the wandering will be most noticable on rutted roads, in which the ruts are in the same direction as travel.

IMO, it's kind of dumb to think you don't need uca's after lifting your truck. Simply put, the stock arms weren't designed for anything other than the stock ride height. Also, the angle of the stock ball joints will be at a steep angle causing them to wear out prematurely. The last thing you want is a ball joint failing while you're doing 70mph on the freeway.

Like Chris said, most people don't think they need them until after they buy a set. I was in the same boat until I finally forked over the cash on a set of Camburgs. My truck rides like it's on rails, now.

That's not entirely true. When lifting over 2" I'd agree with you but for a shorter lift, the stock setup has enough adjustment available to get the alignment correct. I'm at the outside of the adjustment to get everything correct with 1.5" lift. If I went any higher I'd have to make the trade off between camber and caster.

I personally don't understand why anyone would skip the $400 for UCA's when lifting 2" or over on a truck you've invested $25-$35K into

Agree. Same thing when people want to lift their 30k loonie truck with 5 buck parts, like a spacer or such.

Totally agree man. My truck was brand new when I put the lift on and I was pissed at how shitty it handled. I called the shop that did the first alignment and he said the alignment was "perfect" and that I should just expect my truck to drive like that after I modified it. I actually believed the guy and resigned myself to the fact that I "ruined" my new truck.

Luckily, Elwood called me out in a thread like one of these and said he thought my numbers were bogus. A second opinion told me my numbers were junk and I ordered LR UCAs that day. Put them on and my truck drives as good as, if not better, than it did when it was stock.

hah, well thanks for all of the input. I think im more leaning towards just getting some 5100's to level the truck out, vs a legit lift. Probs won't need UCA's for that, at least not yet.

Another quick question, do you guys think it would be cheaper to get the 5100's with coils and do the install myself, or just get the 5100's, use stock coils, and pay to get it done?
