I have had incidents on the trail where I was doing circles and s turns trying to get the e locker to engage when the ARB seems to engage at the flick of the switch

yeah I've heard of people having to do that, that's weird to me though as I use mine all the time and have never had to drive more than a few feet or wait more than 5 seconds for it to lock. Maybe they get like that if they weren't used often enough, I dunno.
I do know that mine won't engage unless I'm going under 5mph and in 4lo but I haven't done the grey wire mod yet to bypass that. Once locked I can go as fast as 4lo will let me

From what I understand, the harrop is pretty much instant on/off like the ARB. It's a slightly different design than the TRD ones.

My buddy has a jeep with dual ARBs and I've played around with it on the rubicon. ARBs are definitely instant on/off. Much less finicky than the TRD E-locker. Every time I'd engage the locker, I'd be waiting for that clunk like in mine, but it was pretty smooth and seamless.

I see so many people with non-locker trucks going thru all this legwork to swap a TRD locker (the thought being that toyota parts are far superior), but IMO it's just not worth it. TRD lockers are good lockers, but if I had my choice, I'd rather have an ARB. The E-locker isn't "bad enough" to warrant switching to ARB. The only advantage that the TRD E-locker has is that it came on my truck.

I have OX lockers in my jeep i love them i run them off air and they are bullet proof. They wont wear out O-rings and leak air like ARB can. If you do rip an air line off you can thread in a drive away lock to lock the diff cover to lock it without air in an emergency. The diff cover is heavy duty i have never had any problems out of mine.

I have my 97 F-350 7.3 with OX Lockers front (Dana 60), and in the back (10.25 Sterling) I love them. Cable operated, works all the tine. They are expensive to setup as my installation caused me to rebuild my rear end with new ring and pinion, seals, u joints etc. it makes my truck a beast in the snow we get.

I have had ARB lockers in my past and I had nothing but problems with the compressor, and the actual lockers. I had a rear axle built from Dynatrac years ago with an ARB for a Ford Ranger I had built. After that experience wore me out I vowed to never buy that overpriced junk.

The Taco OR locker works great, I have a manual. Takes a couple seconds is all and it’s locked. I wish OX made a locker for the front end of these trucks. I think they would be sitting in a gold mine.

If you’re going out of the way to get rear locker might as well put one in front too.

otherwise just put a trd sticker on the truck. Rear locker solved!
