Just picked up the 2020 trd sport. I want to get cool air intake, exhaust, and the pedal commander. It there a recommended order in which I should get them, does it even matter? Thanks

    No, maybe and no

Cold air intakes are pointless on tacomas, they are already cold air intakes
    Most our loud as fuck
And no, just no, spend the extra 250 for an ott

What is an "OTT"? I think I know, but could, be wrong.

By “an ott” he probably means the OTT Tune. Just my guess though.

It depends what your goal is with your truck. If you’re looking for more drivability, none of those will help and I would just recommend looking into one of the various tunes that are available.

I wasted my money on the TRD cold air intake. It doesn’t really do anything. Aftermarket exhaust would probably just cause you to have annoying drone on the highway. I suppose the pedal commander may help but I don’t know too much about them.

    Is it paid off?

Either way none of those mods are worth your money. Get an ECU tune, make the truck drive way better and save a bunch of money compared to buying that crap.

Count to 10, rethink your needs and desires, and then buy a bed mat.

I will second the count to 10, take a breath save your money. Use the truck, issues will come up that you will want to solve, thats where the money goes. There is no rush, enjoy it for what it is. Remember, you're on here looking at trucks with years of modding. It's your pace that matters.

if you were to ask me what 3 mods not to get, those would be in the top 5.

a good question to ask yourself is why do i need to mod my truck? in some cases, there is a legitimate reason and need. if you consider a canopy a mod, i have this mod and it was not only worth it but needed. i need a canopy for both personal use and work.

many of us that have grown older and become financially secure look at how we handled and spent money in the past. for me, modding trucks unnecessarily was something i did that had i not, i would have become financially secure sooner in life. in other words, it was a waste of money just like a CAI, exhaust, and pedal commander would be for a tacoma, imo.

the best advice was posted above, tap the brakes and count to 10, or better yet 1000.

    good luck.

A $50 "stall mat" from Tractor Supply is a quick usable mod ... non-slip surface in the truck bed. You might want to get a Sabellco (I have, but some say it is defeatable) or @christian06 tailgate lock to prevent tailgate theft. Also replace the H11 low-beams with H9 bulbs for better headlights (Phillips is often recommended, but my NAPA brand work well) just pull the green insert.

I find waterproof seat covers a good idea because I hike in AZ during the summer and want to protect the cloth seats from "me, after a hot hike". Cheapest decent entry-level is Rough Country for $200.

Basic safety and usage mods, will not break the bank.

Then decide if you will mall-crawl, hit Hells Revenge in Moab or just run gravel forest roads for truck-camping. No shame in any choice but your use dictates what you mod.

You dont need an intake, just get a better filter and a new intake pipe to delete the resonator so its louder in the cab.

    exh is pref

Pedal commander is crap, just get a tune instead.

A tonneau cover is probably the first thing I would get.
    Next: Tint, Wheels/Tires. etc.

After having dumped a lot into actual mods and cosmetic “mods” while still paying on a loan, I vote for the king of them all: Title mod

FYI: I did the same in my younger years, I could have been on path to retire a decade (or more) sooner with the money I dumped in to moddin' unpaid vehicles. Wet blanket I know,,, but it's true.
